how's the oil filter location on the phazer,can it be changed at home or need to bring to dealer to get it done,photos would be nice.

Looks like it might be internal? shown on the Yamaha Oil Pump Diagram
Manual says 12000 miles before changing the filter... so I think we have a little time.

Actually looking at the crankcase, it looks like its on the front left

sorry for no photo, but when I looked a couple weeks back, I removed the air filter and filter box assyembly. Then looking down the compartment the filter is going to be by the clutch side on the front of the motor. Looking at my fx today I think you can remove the bottom access panel directly under the motor and get to it also. I think the access panel needs to be removed anyway to drain the oil from the motor.

hopefully its not a pain like the rx1's,my phazer is still at the dealer but he gave me the manual to look at and could not see anything on the filter.thanks for the response

Just unbolt the belly pan to access the filter. ALready tried it and took about five minutes, maybe 20 min to do full change over.
