Well we have lots of snow here and went for a long ride yesterday, about 30 miles out I started to notice belt slipping and smoking but we kept going anyway,it was storming bad with lots of snow,when I got back I pulled the side cover and saw oil on the belt and clutches and all over the pto side of the motor,upon inspection I see a what looks like a black plug on the valve cover gasket blown out and the oil is leaking out there,what would cause that? how hard is that to fix? also now it is showing a code 84 and 42 that just sarted while it was in the shop,thanks.

Code 84 is T.O.R.S and 42 is speed sensor.make sure that the speed sensor is not covered in oil tripping a code 42 which would make 84 go off as well. speed sensor is located under secondary,TORS is Throttle Overide for safety measure,

have you change the oil in the last few weeks.
No I have not chaned the oil,I took a small bar and pushed the plug back in but I dont trust it now,cleaned the oil from the clutches and took it out and drove it and the codes cleared up,what would cause it to pop out?

1) Excessive pressure build up in the engine can pop it out. Are the crankcase pressures breathing properly? 2) Failed gasket/plug can slip out on its own.
In either case I would change the valve cover gasket and use some RTV sealant to help secure the gasket in the plug areas. The plugs are built into the gasket.

pressure build up, that is what I was thinking as when I was riding and sometimes under WOT it sounded like it was backfiring out of the carbs it didnt do it all the time just once in awile,this sled has an ulmer modified air box and a power commander 3 I bet it needs a little more fuel on the top end.

Take the valve cover off inspect the gasket where it got pushed out, if its ok clean it, the cylinder head and valve cover real good and then use some automotive sealant. Those gaskets are pretty tough. Most house hold rtv's are not compatible with oil. Check your crankcase vent to make sure it is working OK. Run the engine with the airbox off and see if anything is being blown out the vent (Checking for ring blow by).
