Sorry i did post this right when it happened. While i was heading home for lunch my oil warning light started blinking and loss power. I shut the engine, got off the sled and there was a lot of oil on the ground, so i opened the side panel and noticed the oil line from the oil tank going to the oil pump popped right out of the hose. Quick repair, took that cheap garbage hose clamp off then i put in a gear clamp, drove it back to work and inside the garage everything seemed okay. After driving around for a couple hours the sled felt good no more leaks then this evening while the sled was warming up, there was a constant whistle kind of sound like it was from the exhaust can. Oil was leaking out from between the oil tank and the chain case cover. This is probably the first to happen to the vipers so i'll be sure to call the dealer first thing the morning.

It might be from the oil separator. I made post on it, but I think guys have to start getting miles on there sleds before it becomes a issue. It happened to me with around 3500 miles. But I lost around 2 quarts in like 3 seconds. So might be a separate issue. The oil separator is behind the muffler in back between the chain case and the muffler, back behind there. It's a black box with three hoses coming out of it.

whos idea for the oil seperator was it artic cat or yamaha, my nytro never had a issue in 5200 miles like that?????

The Nytro's was in the tank. The Viper has it separate which is causing problems. So I would think it's changed because different chain case with reverse.

The first oil leak by the separator but this time I'm 100% sure its from the hose going into the oil pump. Now its leaking from between the oil tank and chain case.

Good thing you found the leak! Now if I were you I would take the separator out and drain the water if any and clean it out, ;)!

I was about to do that then i noticed a crack on the oil tank.

That's no good!! I guess bring it to get fixed, good thing you found that! Sorry to see that! :o|

I wish i could bring it to the deal, it would cost me close to 2 grand just to get it to the dealer in winnipeg. They are ordering the parts and going to send them to me, hopefully have them by monday evening or tuesday.

That's crazy! When stuff like that happens it's no fun! Man you have a big job ahead of you!
Sucks not to have a dealer right there! :o|

Hopefully you can get her fixed soon!!

Yeah it does suck but its not as bad as my polaris assault 800 LOL

Right on! Just sucks when something like that happened. It's different when things happen that should like a belt or things like that. Not a whole chain case rebuild! Might as well gear it and all that while your already in there! Good luck bud! ;)!

Wow,lots of stuff going around with this Vipers! :(
Cracked chain case cover is not good, why is that happening?http://ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=128056
Never ever had problems with chaincase ore oil blowing out on my Nytro,
always started right up,never had my muffler go apart lol, never had problem with the bearings in the chaincase,
never had problem with hard starts/Cold starts, and startengine that get blown up .

This is serius problems !!

Hope this is getting solved becouse i dont want to buy this Viper before i know this problems are
solved and i want to hear this from Yamaha that they have solved all these problems before i buy a Viper.

Seems to me that more and more problems are keeping coming with these Vipers :(
