I bought an 05 rx warrior and would like to change the oil, most people say to use amsoil but where I live it is hard to get ,so I'm looking for an oil that is close to get and I found a place close that sells castrol syntec 5/40 what do you guys thinks? next thing is the filter we don't have a dealer close by so a small local shop sold me a fram ph6017a is this the right one? thanks

there is a rating that has to be on the oil for best results. the castrol might be fine but i do not remeber the additive. i just run yamalube in mine as it works best for me.

the filter # is correct as it is a direct cross from the up-dated yamaha part#.

I use Castrol Syntec Ow40, it's a good oil. Just use a brand name oil that's either 0w30 or 0w40 weight, everyone here as their favorite oil. Stock up when it's on sale.

the filter is right. pick any name brand full synthetic but go for a 5-20 or a 5-30. the 40 grade is only robbing some hp, unless the engine is an oil burner but most 05s were ok.

Where do you live? If you add your location to your profile it helps others be able to give you advice on close by ammenities. You could try www.ssoiltech.com for Amsoil and get it delivered to your doorstep.

Are you a dealer for amoil if you are ill order from you .other wise ill get it off that site .

Next question how many qts per do you need for each engine(we have 2 03 rx1s)

Next question I need to change the chain case lube in both sleds . What kind of lube (80-90 wt) . And how much will I need for each case . And will I need to but gaskets to the case when I crack them open . Seeing how they don't give that stuff away I don't want to order 5 qts to many .

Also if I'm going to put good oil in it I want to put a good filter on it

I guess these questions are for anyone that can answer them . But I want to know if mark is a dealer of the oil

5 months and counting woohoo . Bring on the snow

oil plus filter is about 3-3.5 liters. one 4 liter jug per sled will do with some left for topping up during season. buy synthetic gear lube 75-90 range 1 liter jug. chaincase holds aprx 225-250ml, giving you 2 changes per sled , with one jug. gasket is heavy rubber and is re-useable, just dont pinch it when installing cover. most major name brand companys that sell oil filters make one for the sled, pick one you like, napa, purolator, wix etc. i have used fram even though BITOG says your house will cave in if you do, but hey i like livin on the edge.

Amsoil has designed a chaincase lube specifically for snowmobile applications, series 2000 chaincase oil. We run 0w-40 4 stroke formula, you need 4 quarts and will have some left over and an EAom103 oil filter. those filters are made of synthetic nanofibers which hold up longer and have more pours per square inch which allows for more filtration capability. A filter must perform well in the areas of efficiency, capacity, flow and life. Unless you are a racer, I would definitely go with the 0w-40 for the broadest/best protection for your sled.

bobistheoilguy.com web site all about oil and stuff.
I've read Bob's site and I have been to school for lubrication. Welcome to the internet! I choose to believe the books I have read and learned rather than Bob's Blog but the great thing about America is Freedom of choice!
