So today I put my sled over on the right side, burried the entire side in powder, couldn't find the kill switch and ended up smashing so much snow into the dash I couldn't even get to the key. Oh well it happens, I guess. Anyhow, seeing that this is only the second time I've needed to prime the pump I fumbled through it, took me probably 20 minutes to do and to be honest I'm not sure if I actually even did it right but whatever I did it worked. I guess my point is, there has to be an easier way to do this that doesn't involve buying an expensive ROV kit. Is there any reason I can't just put a ball valve in there where the ROV would go? Seems like it would serve the same function for 1/20th the price of the ROV kit.

Try

A tether would be great, and it is on the list of things to get, but it doesn' seem to take long on the right side to lose prime. I'd like to not havr to disassemble my sled in the middle of nowhere just to prime the pump.

I did the same exact thing this Saturday west of Grand Marie playing of trail, put er on its right side, didn't have my tether attatched, even thoug i got to my kill switch pretty quick, after getting it shinny side up, she would start and die every time with the oil light on, took about 15 min to get back to normal, i am too looking for a low dollar alternative .

I'm going to explore this ball valve thing I think. If I come up with a viable solution I'll post it here. Hopefully someone else already did the leg work and has it already.

Best thing I found is start and immediately give it a bit of throttle to get the sled moving to flat ground if possible. Usually 1 to 3 restarts like this and mine good To go. If you start the sled and just sit there waiting for the oil light to go out your going to be waiting a long time while you're buddies are riding having fun and wondering what your doing just sitting there? If your pointed uphill with the sled don't bother trying to start, drag the sled around get pointed down hill then restart 1 to 3 times and get moving and away you go.

I bet the guys out in the mountains may have some ideas

They make roll over vales for yamaha vipers if you check the web. I think it is Jacobson

parepadarappa,

I realize that your looking for a low cost solution, but using the ROV for re-prime is really fast and easy. Just put the sled back to rubber side down, push and hold the quick prime button while starting the engine. As soon as the oil light goes out (usually just a couple of seconds) release the button and ride away! No side panels to remove, no rocking the sled back and forth, or valves to switch (and remembering to re-open). Pretty much re-priming with just a push of a button, I'm all about hassle free riding! ;)!
