well, winter is on its way out so thought i would prepare the grizz in advance, here's the problem,my 03 grizz burns oil a little too much for my liking, ive tried seafoam and didnt help,i was thinking of slick 50 or prolong or something like that, just dont know if its safe to use this in the grizz, its only got 6000 miles so i shouldnt have to rebuilt the motor already.any suggestions

when does it smoke? if it is only smoking on start up just ride it. not worth tearing it down for just the valve seals.

if it is smoking all the time you need to tear it down to do the rings and valve seals

it doesnt smoke much but the oil is always low, every second ride i add oil, maybe 1/4 litre every time.the yamaha oil is $10 a litre in canada so its like riding a 2 stoke and i thought maybe prolong would help, would adjusting the valve help.the oil doesnt leak anywhere so it must be going somewhere

try the valve set but if it is still using oil it is time to tear it down or at least take the head off and make shure the valves are seating properly.

Don't feel bad, mine uses 8-12 ounces of oil every 50 miles or so. It only smokes on start up when it's cold but the oil sure goes away. It has been doing this since about 500 miles. :o|
