I just spent the past half hour reading up on tracks in the FAQ. One thing I noticed is those are a few years old. Am wondering if something out there right now would be better for me.
Im goign to extend my RTX to 136
I ride in central Wisconsin most of the time, trails are beat up, icy and except for last year have little snow on the hard pack. However I get out on the lakes and there may be some snow. I have no ambitions of trying to be a boondocker, however i get up north a few times a winter and ya never know whats going to happen. However I know mine and my sleds limits.
Im a point and shoot acceleration type rider. Im too big to be very nimble in the tightest corners. But Im goign to make up ground when i get it pointed where Im going.
My RTX with alot of studs, just doesnt get the hook Im looking for in most conditions. Im a drag racer and Im always looking for that dead hook type acceleration which I know is a give/take in the snowmobiel world, but ya get my point.
Not all that converned with full top end as I rarly run it more than 1/4 mile at a time, when goofing off. I have gone fast in race cars, but to be honest I do start to get a lil nervous at very high speeds on the sleds.
So which track for my type of riding should I go with? Geared up Im 275lbs....... RTX is Ulmer clutched, and soon to have the PC3, Ign module, and Excell exhaust.
A good 1 inch track, studded to all hell? OK which one?
Another ripsaw studded?
Or the Cobra with 1.325 lug studded?

In my honest opinion for those type of conditions a predator 1" track with 144 1.325 studs will give you way more hook than 200 plus shorter studs ( been there done that) and be very trailable, I put 6400 miles on my short tracker last year and now have a 136" track and will put in the same studs.
If you are a powder runner the cobra will be a great track.

Triple X
Extreme
I agree with stone88, for what you want to do you can't beat the 1" Predator. The stud lenght might be a little long IMO, I would go with 1.175 or 1.87

Yes, with little snow and more ice, then get the predator with 1.325 144 studs....

You are all still talking 144 studs in the 136 track right?
I thought that pattern at 136 was 162 studs? Sorry Im kinda new to this stuff.

Sorry yes I meant use 1.325 studs 3 per bar down the center, not sure of how many studs that will be I'm new to 136" track LOL I may go back to the 121" yetr before the snow falls. Anyone want to trade tracks and skids?

well Im going to be gone the entire week, with limited net access.
will give me the opportunity to let this thread run and see what the recommendations are.
Im really thinking 136 to bridge some of the bumps, and better traction.
Just wondering if the cost would be worth it.
Now if I had someone that wanted to trade a studded 136 for a studded 121 may be an easy swap
