We can only wait and see. New ones in Canada on the Yamaha-motor.ca site are $14,600 I think. It was a couple days ago I looked. Thats for a three year warranty spring order. I asked how much for a spring order if I trade my XTX. Under warranty with two more years fully transferrable. New Apex's are over $17,000 next year in Canada.
What would be the depreciation on a sled? I'll be reclipping the track. I just put new slides on and dropped it off at the dealership. I ordered new drivers and the boggies with no rubbers will be replaced under warranty.
I trust the motor but I seen jack shaft bearings go because of no grease nipple and the chain case rubbers start to leak after a couple years. My buddies Apex lost its chain case oil this winter fried the gears. Luckily we were near a road crossing.HeHe

Here is a site to look at. Not sure if the 09's are there or not.

My guess is a 1 year old sled with 10,000 Km [I think you said, maybe it was 6,000], ridden as hard as you say you drive, you are probably looking at $5,000 plus tax minimum to trade.
Dealers usually offer blue book rough wholesale on trades, which tends to be at least 30% less than average retail.
Re grease fittings, just take the covers of the two shaft bearings and grease them yourself. Less than an hour job.
I've got 100,000 + KM on various Yammies and have not lost a shaft bearing yet . One jack shaft at 20 k on a 98 XTC 700 Deluxe. Shaft fatigue, Bearing was fine.

Thanks for the shaft bearing info. I'm greasing my Apex shaft bearing tonight as tomorrow I head to Moose Valley for the last trip of the season.
They told me max trade in value is $7500 on an XTX in good condition. I'd get $400 Yamaha bucks back wirth a 2 year extended warranty. My sled needs a few things fixed like drivers replaced and track re clipped. I might just tune the XTX back into shape. Get those larger wheels Yamaha sells after I find them and drive it for another year. New ones are $14,600. I think it would be like $13,000 on the floor with $400 more off and a extra two years warranty. That would be about $5,000 after tax to go new. Then I still need to change the wheels and drivers to make it like I want it.
My other option is to change the drivers, clip the track, get the warranty work done and sell it for $9500 on KiJiJi with 2 more years warranty remaining. Then I pay $3500 for a new one.
So the answer was $7500 for an XTX in top shape(mine was not top shape). New one is $14,600. Say $14,000, so $6500 depreciation in one year if you don't damage anything. Resale value is only higher for 4 strokes if you sell it privately I think...

You're always gonna take a kick in the #*$&@ if you try and trade at the dealer! That goes for anything; Be it quads, sleds, cars or trucks you're always gonna get more for it selling it privately! I understand that sometimes it's just more convenient to trade it off and carry on and take the hit instead of waiting for the right buyer to come along!
