My friend rebuilds shocks as a hobby.
He does all of my shocks as we like trying different valving etc. Like ReX we find that Yamaha valving has a lot to be desired. We do have a problem with purchasing shock parts from a Yamaha dealer. He is telling us that Yamaha won't sell shock parts to a consumer and that we have to buy the parts from guys like Bruce at Pioneer etc.. Not a problem, but Bruce advised us that the olins shocks have changed and that he cannot get parts until late this fall.
I would like to hear some input on this.
Sticky has a great thread on this subject. Shocks are key to ride and handling. No different than a race car. I realize that Yamaha puts out a product that covers a wide range of riding style and weight. It would be nice if they would have a specification sheet and parts available to match individual riders and their riding style. I would hope that they have a shock engineer that could improve this area.
