Open House and Free access to Quebec snowmobile trails!

I will probably take advantage of this Québec week end, if I get my sled back together by then.

Thanks Pat, i'm on the border to Ont. and haven't sleded there in years now we'll give them a try !!! :jump:
Where are you,also,I think it's a 3 day weekend,enough to make a lil trip
I live near the Ottawa River across from Arnprior which is 1/2 way between Ottawa and Pembroke.
Cool,been there before
How far are you from the Que. border Pat?
I am about 15 min by car, earlton, new liskeard area

I really would like too. But the amount of stealing going on in Quebec forces me to steer clear. I have not been there since several friends lost several sleds, trailers and personnel items. The police also show no interest in American stolen property. Stealing is going on as well in socalled secure fenced areas. I have also told other fellow snowmobilers to steer cleer of Crookbec.

I rode my Harley through New Liskerd back 5-6 years ago while doing a 1,100 km loop. Also sledded there one time and there was a lot of ice on the trails at that time{ MARCH}.We had made the loop from Val-Dor -Belle terre-New Liskeard-Noranda .Never got over in your neck of woods but someday you never know?

COPS do not spend anytime looking for stolen sleds or anything , just take a report for your insurance co. if they spot one you might get lucky , i have lost a sled and closed trailer and told the cops where they went and when they left they headed in the other direction !!

Sounds good! We will be up in East Burke VT that weekend and plan on heading up thru Caanan on Saturday. Any good destinations up there to make it a well rounded day trip? Doug

A popular destination is the Hotel Sawyerville. Good food, pretty much no frills. Check out this map of the Eastern Townships. Has info on popular places..

Sorry I couldn't locate that hotel on the map. About how far up into Quebec is it? thanks, Doug

There is a Free 3-day weekend in New Brunswick as well during those same dates. The permit is still required to be displayed, alll you have to do is get an application from a local Club, fill it out, and you get the free 3-day permit. It's advertised on the NBFSC website at www.nbfsc.com under the "what's new" section of the home page.

That thread is about stolen gauntlets. Vehicle theft can happen anywhere but if you have particular vehicles you are a target of organized crime in QC. And if it happens in the states there is way less hassle than getting out of Quebec. Trust me I just had to do it myself last weekend. We'll still go to QC but its going to be a lot harder to steal our trucks next time.

If you go, read up on precautions.
