Mine is obvious. I am an Inuk (Plural=Inuit). Eskimo means "Raw Meat Eater" as described by our neighboring Dene People.

Suisse is the French word for the country Switzerland, which is where I live. It is pronounced like "sweece" in English. I live in in the French speaking city of Geneva, which is Geneve in French, Genf in German, and Ginevra in Italian. The city name makes flying pretty interesting when you are trying to find your gate

Interesting thread......... Mine goes back almost 20 yrs. to a friend from my country club. After we'd played golf for a few years he said to me "we used to have a member here who was big like you and could play pretty good. You not only look like him but you play golf like Buddah too". It kinda stuck AND it's always "available" wherever I log on.

Eskimo, have you had any troubles with your RX-1 in the extreme cold?
I haven't had any yet, I'm just checking before my 400+ mile trip from Iqaluit to Pangnirtung and back in Feb. I just broke in my '03 RX-1 shorty.
Thanks,

Hey Welcome abourd Baffin Island Man! Finally another guy from Nunavut.
I am from Arviat. I can say this about my RX-1 in the cold. You gotta get to know it a little, like any sled I guess, but I have no trouble with my RX-1 in the cold. It started easily enough during one of wolf hunt trips last year. We were out for almost two weeks in March, temperatures were averaging minus 34-40 celcius at the time. We brought a generator but we never needed it. The rides a bit rough compared to all other sleds.
But it's great for towing if that's what your going to use it for. I am going to lower the gears on mine to give it a bit more power at take off. I don't really care about the speed, but it goes pretty fast in the fresh salwater ice. Great on gas, goes about 90-100 miles a tank, easily twice the fuel economy of the 500 mountain lite F/C. Especially good when we're free wheeling without Qamutiks. We'll have to exchange emails.

Hey Arctic RX, I replied but didn't really answer your question.
It's been minus 38 or so in the last couple days, but last week, we had nasty weather around minus 42 to 45. I wouldn't even try or want to start my sled in those extreme temperatures, I don't think it would anyway. No other problems though that I could think of in terms of function and performance.

That's great news! I do plan on having a 7' qamutik built for me so I can make it on long trips and carry hunting gear. I was going to bring a generator but maybe I won't bring it unless it's really cold. I noticed the rough suspension also. Our snow is pretty hard on the sea ice so I might get some better suspension (Expert -X or M-10) but for now I'll just adjust my shocks.
Did you build a special hitch for your qamutik? I only plan on hauling some light loads like one caribou and some gas.
Thanks again for the info,

Hey Arctic RX,
I went to the lumber store and bought a barn door hinge. I cut one one of the hinges end shorter and made a big hole for the hook on the rope of my qamutik. Then I riveted the long end of the hinge onto my bumper and part of the tunnel that turns down. This set-up did not last very long though because it's hard to mount anything onto the tunnel because of the exhaust canister.
So I just tied some thick nylon rope at the bumper and that's where my qamutik ties onto now. We don't have the mountains you have, so we don't need a solid hitch for the Qamutik. Go see your dealer and he might have something for you.
