With people speculating that Yamaha may come out with a lower sitting srx style sled cause of the Yamaha filed patent information that's been shared. Would you switch from a sidewinder to a lighter flatter trail/lake burner with similar Horsepower, or stick with the more rider forward, bump eater sidwinder? If they really come out with this I really doubt that your knees would be as jammed as say a vector, but may be a happy medium between that and a sidewinder (if they really release it).... all speculation but it seems a lot of the older yamaha faithful still dream of an all yamaha platform. Which is kind of what a you see in those patent drawings. Thoughts?

Might as well stir the pot while we have to wait for spy pictures or the release to pop up:hide:

Being lower you never know.... It might even handle better, time will tell but if it does and it's as fast or faster than the Sidewinder I'd probably be all over it. If it's 100% Japan built I'd definitely be all over it.

No, I want a bump eating trail rider, not an old SRX rough rider.

If you want a lake racer you can trim the track width and lug height, install limiters and lower the Winder. Its just ride height and flatter approach angles. Have fun with that on the trails. Theres a reason I want a new comfortable sled and not a 1993 model suspension, I don't care if it robs some speed, its gotta ride good.

What if it was flatter more like a doo 1200 than say the a cat chassis? Still eats but not as forward as the newer cat's, G4's, and pro R's??

Doo and Cat pretty much the same, If anything the Doo is further forward.

I don't want to ride on the back of a limited travel rear suspension ever again!

All this talk of carbon fiber chassis has yet to be proven. What is the weight of a complete chassis? I know that what we have now is not that heavy with alum. construction. It would be very expensive to save a few lbs. IMO. You may cut 10 lbs but the cost!

Low rider turbo = racer / warranty nightmare, they might regret it unless warranty is limited to 90 days
The Mach Z RT 1000 was slung low and a blast to hit full throttle out of the hole and quite stable during broad turns down the lake at 100+mph. But once you hit the bumps its a rodeo. Pulled many U-turns to get out of bumpy trails.
I have yet to fear bumps on the Sidewinder.

If they do it right you can have both. Think off-road race truck. Massive suspension but lower than a street truck. Probably not as plush in small stuff though.

I'd want to be able to stand and fly through the bumps! A low sled on bumpy trails is a nightmare!

If the trails were groomed all the time I would prefer the way the apex sits. I loved my apex. I had the suspension dialed in and it railed. But reality is you only get a few hours of trail like that. And I can't ride during the week like when I was single. Truth is the rider forward is so much better in real world riding.

By low I mean low to the ground. When its good only reason to stand is to Jump it. Do need to be able to get butt off seat though for maneuvering.

Standing is for 20 year old Motocross racers and wanna be snow crossers ...LOL .. we are to old to stand all fricken day on a sled..
