That there is funny! Was one nice thing about the spring buy. Lots of time to break the news. Digital do you think she would know the difference between a black Viper and your Apex?
I did some investigating today and have come to the conclusion that noone should jump to conclusions as for at least rear suspension till its broke in. I got on a LXR Cat which I would bottom trailriding and new they are just as stiff in rear as my RTX. Just need to break suspension in. Springs on both a RTX and a Standard Viper are both .406 in thick. Might be same springs.

What's worse then typing it was actually reading it.
Same boat, slightly different. 09 phaser, 07 apex with $$ in it. Needed something little less weight. My riding style is 50/50, on/off trail. Just bought a xtx viper, now have to tell the wife.

Digital you are very eloquent in writing and a perfect example of the way I feel of my sleds. Just hang in there. I am riding this Viper stock as long as I can stand it. So far it has exceeded my expectations in every aspect and met all your goals except for the stiff rear suspension which I believe I just need to beat into submission! So far I see no reason a person would HAVE to spend a single cent on mods. Starting to put some miles on tonight. Just hold tight.
Good golly that sounds like something I would write
If you have a sled and you love why get rid of it. Some of us were just to the next stage needing something new to FU$& with.

yeah, sorry for wall of text. I started typing and then realized it was a novel. Hopefully the thread hijack is turning up some helpful information for the OP who seems only be lurking this thread!
I have a sled I mostly love, but the downsides are large enough that I am starting to believe its time to part ways.

FWIW, I didn't pull the trigger on a Viper either, mostly because I wanted to see how the sled pans out after folks have a season of riding to shake the bugs loose. I'm about your size and can tell you that for me, the Viper's ergos are the most comfortable I've felt on any sled (sitting or standing). I even went to the local sneak peeks just so I could try sitting on several different brands back-to-back for confirmation. Cat really got it right as far as rider position. Coming off the demo sleds, I thought the snappy throttle response that you notice with the Nytro was not there ... and maybe that has been resolved with the production sleds, but I also went away thinking that this is a sled I could ride without having to make any mods whatsoever ... at least for while.

Thats good info. I wasnt able to make it out to the demos, but I sat on a few of them at Hay Days. That can only tell ya so much tho. The way you might sit on them while stopped, or the way you sit on them trying to imagine ripping around a corner all could go out the window and change when the sled is moving. I really wish I would have been able to make it to the demo.
I figured I would be snow checking a 2015 if anything (depending on what this years new model is), but my impatience is getting the best of me. That, and if I decide to pull the trigger on a new sled, I need to sell the Apex now, while the market is still hot and not in the spring when I wouldnt get a dime for it.
ha! none of us can leave well enough alone, its always gotta be better!

I can honestly say this sled does not even feel like the demo sleds. I know its new and those had tons of miles on them and they were detuned and not clutched right but it does sound better and with the turbo is way far from being underpowered. I wish I would have ridden it prior to the turbo but it did not work out that way.
Next week at the TY ride there will be plenty of guys willing to let me rider theirs if they can ride mine.

Apex power is hard to give up but I knew shortly after I bought mine that the handling was lacking big time. Mine was great but I was definitely abusing the chassis and suspension more than the sled could handle so it had to go.
See if a dealer has a Viper demo to try. Waiting on warmer weather to try the one at my dealer. He had a proto last winter that I rode, felt a bit weak so i want to see how the production sled feels. I will say this after riding an 800 and Turbo Procross as well as the Viper last winter I will tell you the chassis in the Viper is fantastic.
