Ok, now I want to get as high a topend as possible, and I Don't want to cut my clutch. Do I leave the stock 24 gear in my Apex then? By theory a 23 should cut topend mph. But does the theory work in the real world?

i don't think a stock apex or attak will have the power to max out 23/38

Maybe I should also have said, I will make clutching changes, just not cutting. I just haven't made a decision on what yet.

You can change the weights, rollers, helix, or springs if you like, won't make ANY difference on full shift ratio, just in how it gets there (assuming that it CAN).

on the weekend a stock motered apex went 132 mph with 10 tooth drivers and 24/38 gearing

Only on the giggle gauge. Probably on shiny wet ice with no studs.

Bingo!
A stock Yam clutch can be improved.
We know that a 22 gear with our clutch, spring, and belt combination, works better than a stock 23, or 24.
The 22/38 blasts out the hole, and has a good pull in the middle. We just get needed a little more to get to the finish line first.
Must be a better shift ratio.
Bottom line: It doesn't matter how you get to the end first, you just have to get there!

sj,
A machined clutch.
Both the primary, and secondary that provides a slight overdrive (shift ratio) that enhances the 22 gear at the top end.
By machining both sides of the primary and secondary, and not just one side, prevents the belt from twisting, and asymetrical stress loads.
Also use a Dayco Maxi-belt. The belt is made of a softer compound, and is a bit wider.
Just switch the belt before you race.
Are you studded, or unstudded?
Apex, or Attak?
I sent you a PM.
Hope this helps!
