Took a trip up to Jackman a few weeks back. Due to marginal snow conditions...my Vector overheated about 3 or 4 times. My friend told me he put a rear heat exchanger on his Viper and it has cured the problem. (he had the same issue when his was new)I stopped in to my dealer yesterday to complain a little about it, and basically get some feedback on what others have been saying and lo and behold, he pulled out a folder loaded with bulletins from yamaha. As he dug down he did find one about that issue. BUT it is not a fix that they are fully recognizing yet. As of right now, they are offering to give a significant discount on the exchanger ($41) and give you a decent labor rate. I was quoted an hour and a half....or about $93. I figured between the two...it would cost me less than what that guy on e-bay is selling his for. ($140) Just cheap insurance i think.

Bottom Line...ordered the part and will schedule for service.....

Might want to check and see if your dealer has same....

I put one on mine before I ever rode it just because it is cheap insurance. Its easy to do your self,It comes with detailed instructions .I believe it was about a 1 1/2 hour job. Just make sure to properly bleed your coolant system, which is also explained in the instruction sheet. I got mine from port yamaha $48.00.

I had problems with my 05 vector overheating and talked to the dealer about it. They gave me the rear exchanger at cost ($42) and installed it. I haven't overheated yet this year. It was a wise investment and would recommend it to anyone overheating.

Old thread but added the rear heat exchanger to my 2005 vector and it cured the overheating issues with marginal snow conditions.
