Overheating

An interesting observation on the overheating issue. I was in Canada about 10 days ago. First day hard packed trails, temp.about +5 F. and sled did not overheat. Next 3 days temp. was -15 F with 2-3" of fresh snow on trails and I was overheating every 20 miles. Today and yesterday I was out riding in central NY with real hard packed trails, Temp in upper 20's and sled never over heated. I find this strange. It seems the colder it is the more the light comes on.

I'VE HAD MY EXCHANGER ON FOR 1000 MILES NOW & NO LIGHT!!!!!!!

IN 480 MILES BEFORE THAT 4 TIMES LIGHT WAS ON!

HEY BUT, WE DON'T NEED THAT EXCHANGER RIGHT YAMAHA!!??

BR

I agree 100%! I had the same issue but in trying to deal with some knucklehead at Yamaha to get this problem resolved. It was a waste of time. I finally bought the exchanger ($65) and now have no problems. One would think with the little cost invloved with this exchanger Yamaha would make it a standard option on a $9,000 machine. Cost cutting and lean manufacturing reveal poor quality products. Don't get me wrong Yamaha is still the highest quality sled out there, but at least $buck$ up for a lack of, or poor engineering regarding the cooling system on these units.
