After reading the specs on the new 4-stroke polaris, I noticed they have perc 4(Polaris Electronic Reverse Control) on their 4-strokes? Would anyone know how this system works on these 4-strokes?

LB is right. You cant run PERC on a 4-stroke like you can on a 2-stroke because a 4-stroke cant run backwards (it just wont work).
Rathar than having the lever like the olde Poos had (and like Yamaha still has) its an electronic solenoid that does the work for you.

Ive seen a couple of diesels run backwards, but youd want to back up quickly because their is no oil preasure when the motor is running backwards, plus lots of white smoke.

4 strokes can run backwards! They do in marine applications! But unlike 2 strokes the same engine can not run in both directions :(

Actually I ran a couple 4-stroke diesels backwards due to transmission malfunctions. The air intake ends up being the exhaust and the exhaust the air intake. Sounds terrible and plugs up the air filter quick. Turn the motor off and restart brings it back to normal. Kind of funny when I first seen this happen and no, it didn't want to back up if I raised the RPMs..lol
