Trying to decide whether or not to do a 2011 Apex or Leftover Nytro for Next Year.
If it's a Nytro Based on my research and riding my buddies S/C Nytro with 8 lbs of Boost, I don't want anything less(power), but I want it it to feel like it came from the Yammie factory.
I want it to run only on Pump Gas
So would the best set-up that would require almost no fiddling be the following:
MPI Super Charger
Manual BOV so if you have to run 87 you can turn it down
MPI Extra tunnel coolers with Radiator delete(is this advisable for the trail?)
Head Shim
MPI Standalone Fuel Injection System - I want it to run well under all conditions - I'm in Ontario temp can vary from -25c to +10C in a week - My buddies is a little finicky, and with better EFI may get better range out of a tank and better driveability day to day
Question
Are Better Head studs and Rods/Pistons required or absolutely silly on 8lbs?
Would you have the Block sleeved from the Get-go as it's tougher?
If you did all the above could you safely run more than 8lbs? I see Impulse is running 13 lbs at sea level with the Standalone EFI
How do dial in the MPI Standalone system - is it like RB3?
If you are considering higher boost I would go with 2:1 fuel regulator, bigger fuel pump, either dyno-jet or rb3 and meth injection. I have all wth the dyno-jet set up and I am new to boost and getting my attak with a shimmed head and arp hd studs on track was done quite easily. I liked the dyno-jet kit cause you can combine the ignition, pc-3, wideband, all on the lcd and data-log. Do a run down the lake and hit all the rpms while logging hold each one for about 300 feet and then go back to the shop and replay then add/subtract fuel. About 3 runs and I was close. Now I'm working on efficiency and timing. Not to mention Ulmer and Dyno-jet are the best to work with.
