B.S total loss fox floats are still good everything fom the handelbars back is burned ..so front arms floats and guage pod for sale..

Was it running a turbo? I've only heard of turbo sleds burning up, would like to know more about how this happened.

What year? How many miles?

BTW I would not lawyer up immediately, I would "politely" ask Yamaha to investigate this first. Do not part it out, you need to keep all the evidence to make your case and get them to help you.

Also if you have insurance many cover vehicle fires. Again in this case, do not part out the sled, it will weaken your case. Insurance companies usually tell you not to move the vehicle at all, just call them and they will recover it.

yeah well i live in alaska and we live about 580 miles from tghe nearest dealer or insurance agent.. plus the fire department told me i better move it off the road lol. but once the fire marshal says the cause was itll be good enough.. ill call the yamaha rep for alaska tomorrow and see what they say itsa 07 and about 3500 miles on it

Thats terrible! On my 07 there is a steel sheet over the shield you have pictured. It is on top the subframe and in between the tank and exhaust. Was that missing on yours?

no never seen a steel sheet covering that .. i was wondering why would they jus use aluminum to cover that part especially when a gas tank is right above it... this doesnt make sense to me..you have pics of yours

dam mine is got 3700 and during the ride yesterday it got louder, hard to tell with all the harmonics going on, dam speed limit, once i open her up it sounds normal, screaming but normal lol

good luck with yamaha, i might be joining you, i need a couple more rides , then i will see you on the podium,

I would say that if it gets louder you should figure out why and fix it.Might be a good idea to carry some sheetmetal and wire just to get home!Looking at the protection they have nothing really protects front of tank.Surprised that when my manifold broke off it didnt burn.

That is BS. I had the donuts on my old phazer pop out and I had to replace them. New right away because the pitch of the sled changed. Got louder.

That burning up crap should not happen at all. I know what piece you are referring too. When I had it apart I could see that it was not very thick.

Had you been riding a long time when it happened? My son runs one and this worries me too. Not a great place to burn a hole with all the gas right above it.

I have 4500 miles on my 07 Phazer and haven't had any problems with it, well except for the rear suspension. I Usually put over 100 miles on it every time I go out, my guess is that your sled was missing that steel sheet. This is the first time I've ever heard of this happening to a Phazer (a non turbo'd one). Hope everything works out for ya.

I forgot to put mine back in once after I was inslating my manifold tunnle cover. Right befor I started I saw the bottom of the tank looked funny.
