I have a 08 Phazer GT, which has the medium windshield. I have a covered trailer, which the windshield just touches the top of when closed 
My question is do I really need another mounting bracket if I purchase the low windshield? I see the same mounting bracket is used on the GT and the RTX (which has a really little fly screen), but the Yamaha website makes it sound like I need a new mounting bracket for the low windshield. I think its stupid if you have to purchase a different mounting bracked ...if that is the case. I figured someone had to have tried this already. 
Let me know if I have to spend another $67 bucks for a low windshield bracket! I think the RTX fly screen will cause me to freeze my butt off.

My 07 fx came with the little screen... but I also got the medium (same as the GT and MTX). they all (including the tall) use the same bracket.
Any of the other screens (low and/or designer), you'll need to get the alternate mounting brackets.

I have an FX windshield I might trade for the GT one Unless you already have one or are keeping the GT one also. Its the one you see in the avatar to my left.

Just as I suspected, I need to get another mounting bracket for the chrome low windshield. thanks for the offer to trade, but I want to keep my GT windshield for those cold days

mine hit too, pulling it in at the dealers, i performed operation elimination on mine. and to keep from freezin i hold the flipper wide open. i figure its the heating elements and warm pee that keeps me warm. just cant stop after you start lol

My father and I each have a Phazer GT for the women. His windshield hits my trailer top and mine does not. While changing the Oil, I noticed his bracket was mounted upside down which made the windshield sit up higher than mine. The horizontal bar should be on the bottom set of supports, not the top. The dealer must have installed it wrong.

I talked to a Phazer rider whose windshield hit his trailer cover and he just drilled new holes in the existing GT windshield and lowered it enough to clear the cover.

bracket upside down, ahh haaa!
Somebody needs to tell the dealers how to install the bracket the right way. Guess what, mine is upside down too! I will go out and fix that tomorrow! Thanks for the tip guys! That's why I love this site!

Mine was installed upside down when I got my sled too.
