So my forward pivot arm let loose on the trail this weekend and through me from the sled, locked up the track and the sled flipped upside down and ran wide open till it shut down. Lost all the oil from the tank and could not turn the engine over by hand. Pulled it to a safe location and once it cooled down I put 1 and 1/2 gts of oil in and started it. Made some noise at first till oil pressure was built back up and seemed to run ok. All damages include the forward pivot arm, track, rear axle wheel, windshield and bracket, hand guard. Had a quote for $3700 for the repairs including an engine teardown and inspection. What type of condition might I expect the shop to find on the engine? I've heard that the bottom end could let loose around 250 miles if nothing is done to engine. Depending on what is found this sled may be totaled.
