Hi i am considering a phazer and was wondering how it would keep up to my friends mxz 500 liquid and my other friends f5 arcticcat?? i now on rough trails i will beat them but how about on a lake or river??? thanks

My neff-u races the plane phazer, i think it has the FX gears in it. Out of the coners he can pull the other 500's, but on longer tracks, on the top-end they will start to pull him. You might want to find some bigger gears, and go get a GPS, go to a lake and make some test and trial runs. You might as well get the upper hand on your friends before you race. Then you get to poke them, insted of them poking at you. If you have studs, you might want to try and put hooker plates on. You have to weld them on the track clips. Each plate you will have 1 or 2 studs. These work realy good for hole shots. The slids put preasure on the studs to keep them in the ice.

If your friends 500 2-smokes are well setup, I suspect you will holeshot them to about 75 mph, and then they will walk by. The FX gearing (18 top) seems to be the best overall, a Phazer doesn't have the power to pull the 20 tooth top.
Add 72 studs or so for better traction on hardpack. A phazer with good traction will run alongside lots of bigger sleds til 50 or so. Keep the race short enough and you will suprise your buddies.

I ride with a guy on a MXZ 500. I can pull several lengths out of the hole and he never catches me and I don't pull away. It might have a slight top end advantage but the Phazer out accelerates it.

The guys I ride with kill me all day long, 04 xc sp 700 can, 06 600 144 big bore 1 3/4" clutch airbox can, can't even stay close. I had to borrow a friends for a fun run since mine was in the shop again I used a 96 doo 500 and I was able to hang with them all day.

remember that the phazer is a god on tight close corners. challenge them on a track or a race through the tight rough trail, you'll stay up front all day long and possibly even be waiting for them at times.
