had no issues yet with my phazer,2500km and everything looks good,to me the ice build up is not an issue,it wont keep you from riding,no sled is perfect from the factory,you have to work around that,why do you think there is so many aftermarket and mod shops,to fix what the factory missed out onRX-1 CR said:

starter problem
My starter also went out this weakend 1,160 mi. Took it to my dealer yesterday,looks like the starter itself come apart. Looks like they forgot to tighten it, like the motor mount bolt.
The sad thing was it happened on the first day of the ride. Good thing my body had his phazer there for me to ride,it ran good all weakend.
