Looking for a place to purchase a new phaze track (14x144x1.5)
Royal Distributing did not have any listed and neither did tracks USA, the only place I could find them is at Yamaha.
Any other ideas?

The only other track beside the stock Maverick available WAS the 144x14x1.5 Freeride which is no longer made. There may be a few left at yamaha dealers with a yamaha part number but the camoplast partnumber ones are long gone from camoplast dealers. I got my 144" freeride from Port Yamaha this spring as they had a few left then.

I would cut it down to 1.5" It's pretty easy really, jack the rear up, sharpen the back side of a sawzall blade (you cut with this side) and use some 1'5" diameter tube cut to 14" wide. Put the tube against the lugs, and mark the lug with a magic marker (silver works well). Then cut at that mark with the sawzall.
It really made a significant improvement in the trailriding ability of the track, more brip, more snow into the slides. You could also consider dremmeling in teeth into each lug for better grab during accelleration and braking.

Just purchased the Phazer Mountain light and the track is in okay shape. Good for this year I think.
I am interested in the possibility of cutting a track down. Do you have to do anything to the lugs after they are cut? Can they fray? Are there places that will cut the track professionally?
Thanks for your help.

Just talked with a Yamaha dealer and they told me that a track cannot be cut down in width to fit a phazer, they only can cut lugs down...
can some one who has track cutting experience shed some light on this subject for me... i think i read somewhere on here that it was pretty easy to cut a track down in width, but does this type of modification to the track reduce its durability???

I think you have to email Royal distributing for anything that is not listed. They probably have some but they don't put everything in there. worth a try.

We were going to offer this as a service - but have decided to go a different direction. We have taken some video of us performing this operation. We will be developing an instructional video that we will post on our website for viewing - FREE. Our video will show how just about anyone can do with with common tools.
