Daughter's Phazer started making a clunking noise, sounding like the chaincase, chain jumping, with her drive (green) light flashing & even going off a few times! Wouldn't go in reverse either, with the reverse (orange) light just flashing! Had to shut it off twice to get it back in drive, but still clunked when going!

i think there was an update for a shim or something on the reverse. maybe others could chim in who had this done to say what went on.

is it still acting up after sitting for awhile? check the chain tension screw/bolt make sure it's snug. then back off a 1/4 turn.

there has been problems getting them in reverse. some say to rock it back & forth, or what i did was lower my idle down. i found that it shifted better when the rpms were lower than 3k rpms. i have my idle set at 1750-1800 and after i come to a stop it hovers around 2200.
not saying this will cure the problem.

take a look at the clutch & secondary. make sure they aren't loose/sloppy or anything broke. (not likely)
i had the same feeling on my old 95 vmax. shook real bad. it ended up being a $3 set of shoes in the secondary.

there's a chain in the reverse gear box - i wonder if that may have broke - i think the phazer is in direct drive in forward and it uses the chain and gears when in reverse - i've had it off, but not gone any deeper.
