I'm sorry, I'm sure this has been covered. I was able to ride a buddy's Phazer Mtn this weekend for a couple hundred miles. It was on hardpack trails and I was very impressed! I was shocked how well it took the stutter bumps and have never ridden a sled that rode so nice. Can someone tell me how the standard track compares to the Mtn as far as speed and ride quality? I've never ridden a long track sled and I'm wondering if the longer track would take the bumps better than the standard one? Also as far as top end and a heads up race how would the two sleds compare?

The short track is FAR better on trails. Its less tippy, faster and doesn't burn up slides as fast. The long track will cadillac bumps because of its sheer length, but I wouldn't recommend one unless you send 75% of your time in deep snow.

I finds the mtx better then the short track phazer for bumps , it rides over them insteed of diving in and out of bumps.

It's all in what you want. All trail, get a short track. Combo of trails, ditches, and boondocking then it's a toss up between a short track with extentions, new track, and better skis or MTX with some trail friendly mods and trimming the track height down. I went with the MTX since it was 1000$ cheaper at the dealer new, 1000$ can go along way to getting some goodies for the MTX like Float 2s and a set of wide arms to get a 42.5" ski stance. The rear skid is actually pretty good on the 09'+ MTX as they got an upgrade to Nitrogen charged shocks instead of hydraulic shocks. Great on small to medium bumps but will bottom out if you get a few feet of air.
