Ok Mightywarrior thanks !
What`s a ripshaw track? Tracks with different studs or something?.
Hmm, I kind of wonder how my RX-1 would compare to my V-Max when it comes to climbing ?
(1996 V-Max 600XT with 307track 32mm studs)
The belt on my RX-1 is exactly the same if I`m not wrong, so how do you think it will be compared to my old V-Max?. I hope it wount be worse
Not that the V-Max was bad or anything

Hmm I`m just curious, I`ve read about some fouling plug issues so I`m wondering if there is an extra set of plugs in the sled?. (I kind of thought it wouldnt since plug fouling normally isn`t a problem on 4 strokes.. )
Are the plugs for the RX-1 expensive?

Ripsaw track is camoplast models 690-992x (where x designates the length) - 15x1.25 lugs, block pattern with a serrated edge. They are a very agressive track with tons of hookup.
As for plug fouling, it is actually EXTREMELY uncommon. I do NOT carry spares as they are not needed. If it starts, it stays running. I changed the plugs on mine once because I went for a ride and forgot to turn off the choke. If it makes you feel safer, then by all means, carry spares. They're not expensive plugs. NGK-CR9E.

Ok lazybastard, now I will sleep better tonight
I really didn`t think fouling was a problem, a fourstroke shouldnt do that, especially not a new one
. Well since the plugs lasted a run with the choke on, I guess I shouldn`t worry at all
I will probably buy a set of plugs since I have to drive around an hour to get to the nearst dealer. Better to buy some spares then having to sit in at home a saturday night

Hey everybody !!

I did pick up my RX-1 on Friday but I don`t think I have realized it yet.
Here they are, we picked up both on Friday. My boss bought the RS Venture TF.
As many of you remember, I posted a tread on our "trailer issues" , and for those who wonder, they did not fit, we had to drive back and forth two times. Another anoying thing was that we had to remove the windshields because the roof of the trailer came to close. Anyway, we got both of them home, and here is a pic of me just after mounting the windshield, I was about to take it off the trailer, you can see that I am very happy
Notice my "Yamaha" "hat"
Here she is
Some of you might ask yourselves "what`s the point of posting pics of a 100% original sled without any modifications" , but hey, Ì simply don`t give a #*$&@ !!!
This is how I found her on sunday
She looked kind of sweet covered by fresh snow, I didn`t like that she had to spend the night outside, but there wasn`t any space left in our garage.
(I keep her inside when I go to town in the weekdays and take her out when I come home for the weekend).
Well, I`m very very happy with my new sled
. Unfortunately she lost her virginity in pretty bad weather, it was mild weather and it snowed all weekend, very heavy snow and we also had some rain. I hope it will be cold weater this weekend, it`s too much "loose" snow now to ride outside the tracks. Since it snowed like hell, I did get to test her in "loose" snow (about 1+ meter)conditions, it was kind of hard because when riding in such conditions with a sled that has a short belt, you have to keep the speed up, which was kind of difficult when I had in mind that I had to ride it carefully since it wasn`t broken in yet. I`m sure it will be easier when I can take full advantage of the engine, I have also ordered some "ski plastic" (to get the skis wider). I actually wonder what I will get, since I wount be getting new skis, I think it`s called "ski skins" in america. The dealer said that it worked great but didnt`t look that good.
I rode about 100kilometers in the weekend, mostly under 6000 rpm, but I did open her up just a little a few times, I went down on the main road (was covered by snow) and had her up to 120km/h, and man how much faster she is compared to my old V-Max.
I think it`s stupid that the sleds don`t come with an extra belt (I guess it`s called belt), is it likely that I can ruin my belt at any time? I guess it`s more likely that it will wear out by time.. ?
Nor did it come with extra sparkplugs, so I bought four of them. I also bought a liter of engine oil and gear oil. The oil I got for the engine was Shell Super Synthetic oil , the dealer said that I couldn`t get that oil on regular gas stations, I could only buy it through Yamaha Dealers and such. Someone told me to use Yamalube, but I guess this will do the same job, as long as I use the right viscosity.
Well, gotta watch my favourite TV show now
Can`t wait to jump in my car after school on friday, go home and fire her up

Congratulations on your new toy. They are literally TONS OF FUN!!

Welcome Kim! When you check the oil remember to take off the wiring clip, unscrew it out, wipe it dry, then place back in without screwing it back in to get the correct reading. ONce you have the correct reading screw it back in and place wiring clip back on. Oh yea and enjoy your new toy and you do look very happy I had to laugh when I seen your pictures with your eyes so big and your smile just as big. Oh yea whats with the Mickey Mouse ears on your touque?

Gees, my best friend just called me. Recently he has been using my old (first Yamaskicat or whatever I should called) , but when he saw our new sleds his tongue rolled out and his eyes became big. Today he boguht a brand new RS Vector Mountain with 51mm studs! Gees, I guess he will outrun me in the steepest hills but he is still missing one cylinder

I`m just wondering, will these skis fit my RX-1 ER ?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of having skis like that?

Hey everyone !
Today I went down to my dealer and picked up the ski skins I ordered. They were pretty wide, so I think they will make my RX-1 float better on the snow and maybe make it alittle more stabile?.
Seems to be easy to install, holes are drilled in it and everything, bolt on.
I also got my instruction manual today (didn`t find it when I picked up the sled, so I will leave it on the toilet and read it when I go there hehe
Gees, tomorrow my best friend is coming home, with a brand new RS Vector Mountain, seeing his friends getting new sleds was too much for him I guess
One simple question, what is the easiest way to lift the sled off the ground?
I will always find a solution but why not ask since you guys are so helpful

Hey everybody !
The RX-1 now has 220km on the clocks, been riding all weekend
. It probably doesnt seem that much for you guys who has long prepared trails to ride on
(or am I wrong?)
On saturday I installed the ski skins I got, had to modify the holes for the "turning irons" (what are they called in english?), the were to small so I had to make them bigger, 13mm. I also had some trouble getting the nuts back on the "turning iron" , since the ski skin caused them to not go all the way up in the ski.
I compared them with my friends mountain skis and they have the same width.
How to free the ski from the ground
A very happy boy
Weather wasn`t the best in the weekend, but who cares when you ride the RX-1
The sleds parked besides the "wiggwamm" up on the mountain.
My friend was proud of his new machine
It`s hard to see, but 10 meter to the right there was a 200m "steep" (like straight down), the picture is taken about 800 above sea level.
I hope you don`t bother that I post picture of "other" sleds too, I know the pictures are big, but they aren`t big "kb" wise, thanks to XP`s genius picture resizing tool.
In the weekend I almost tipped my RX-1 over, it was lying on the side for a minute or two. I had to turn the starter alittle to get it running again, I guess that`s normal?. What happens if the sled lies upside down for a while?. I guess it should be avoided?
