Hey guys I'm picking up a new 2009 RTX on Friday, and saying goodbye to my 2008 RS Vector. I been reading about some of the issues that the Nytros have but I read alot of good things also. One question I have is they only have a single wheels on the track. Should I add an extra set?

If you ride on soft snow and only soft snow.
The stock wheels as it comes is fine.
Mountain guys take almost all the wheels off to make it light.
But ride hard ice, roads, etc. and you will soon learn to watch for and smell burning sliders.

I ride on 10 miles of roads in a 110 mile trip. Don't ride the ditches on 6 of those miles because there is a sign says don't do it. So my runners are fine as long as I am reading them right. As long as there is a bevel edge left that means they are ok right? When that is gone you change them?

An extra set of wheels will defiantly help in low snow conditions. I added a set towards the back of the skid just in front of the large idler wheels and put a set of marginal snow wheels (kit) just in front of the forward most idlers. Has done a good job of slowing down the ware point at the angle of attack. Hope this helps.

Slider start wearing until thewear mark in a very short time. But after, they seem to be good for long. They seem to stop wearing at the wear mark. Last year i changed my slides at the beginning of the year and after 500km they were as the ones a get out of the skid that had 3000km on them. This fall i changed my track, i have again 3000km on the set of slider that are under my sled, they are at the wear mark, but i decided to let them there to see how many more miles or km i can get on them. Think they could go 5000km.
To me, installing another set of wheels look like a waste of money and could only make your sled look ugly.

True, you likely can do more KM near the wear marks.
But in the back of your mind will you wonder when clip to rail grinding begins?
Last year I did over 2500km on brand new sliders after I added Doo wheels and the sliders are no where near the wear line yet.
A huge portion of last riding season was on very dirty, low snow conditions.
Plus the heavier Doo bearings are still really good. (just a re-grease this year) That would not be the case with the lighter Yamaha bearing.
Never mind that year 2009 model I had to toss 80% of the wheels due to bearing failure. As I didn't have time to figure out how to cut the wheels open to extract the dead bearings. (can you re-clip a cut Yamaha wheel?)
Plus I got Kimpex Doo wheels with bearing / clips for like $20 each.
So that was cheaper to do than going back to Yamaha wheels.
Recently I helped a bud change the sliders on his REV 800.
Did some quick observations.
His wheels stick out as far past (maybe more) with new silders installed than my nytro (with Doo wheels) on sliders half worn.

That's interesting....

I changed also 2 wheels for the new yamaha small wheels with a removeable bearing. The bearings on the old ones were stuck. I removed the seals and washed them with alot of WD-40 until the roll free. I just repacked them with white Castrol LMZ grease, so i got 2 spare wheels that roll like new ones.
By the way, the older type of wheels part # 8ET-47310-00-00 with built-in bearing is like 70$ and the new style part # 8HF-47310-10-00 with removeable bearing included is half the price at 32$.
