so I just picked my sled up last week and noticed that were the hood meets the plastic that covers the gas tank there is two tabs. They are not hooked into this plastic. I just tried for two hrs to get it to work and I simple can not. So I ask if the tabs should be in the two slots? If I had a pic i would but I'm frozen and so is my phone. Thanks again

I tried but nothing would work for me. Is there any intake tubes that I might have missed?
Do you mean the sides that open to access the internals or the fixed paneling?
When sittin on the sled, there are 2 white pieces that come from the front and connect with the white plastic on the sides of the gas tank...one of mine was disconnected. Was a real pain in the #*$&@ the get it back in. Had to removed seat and the black plastic piece at the front of the seat so I could see it from underneath.
Lots of poking, prying and cursing...but I got it back in.

Yes like Calltrex said you have to get it down and then back. Slot is shaped like a picture frame slot. Big hole to get the nail head in then slot to keep it there. Same thing on these. Just pushing them down into the slot part of hole will eventually just distort the plastic. Maybe that is what happened already. You may need to bend the slot slides upward a bit to allow the tab to catch.

Check the routing on your hood electrical cable, if it is not routed correctly the tabs won't go in.

mine is like half in there on one side and causing chafing. just what i want to do, unscrew some more torx screws. guess i gotta use those $187 snapon torx drivers for something.

Mine also had one tab out of the slot, from the dealer. Apparently since it sat that way for a while it warped the plastic slot downwards and wouldn't let the "nail head" go into it deep enough so it could slide back. Similar to what Cannondale recommended, I adjusted the plastic by bending the slot sides upward gently/slightly. I used a hair dryer to help it. Additionally, I had to exacto-knife trim the 45 degree edge, on the hood, adjacent to "nail head" back about 1/32" because it was hitting to hard, also not allowing the "nail head" to go in the slot. This isn't something I'd recommend unless your sure it's an issue.
I'd still take a fighting a piece of plastic over replacing donuts or y-pipes any day...

I also had the left side that would slide in so after reading the replies I dug into
it tonight and checked the wires and heated it up some with no results? Even
took my dremal and cleaned up the leading edge a little. About to give up and
noticed there are four white tabs that hold the two parts of the hood together
and one of them wasn't on thru the hole for it? Put it where it belongs and all fit
together perfect. Hope this helps someone else?

I always put the hood on backards..... as in i hook those 2 tabs first then work my way down to the nose cone
