I am at 1,000 feet was running real real rich(10.0 on Wideband) from 3000-7000 rpm with ZERO boost. I have 135 mains and 17.5 pilots about 2 on the screws need to look at needles. I am going to try some 15s in my Pilot jets what you guys think???

Thank you Skydog

3000-7000 no boost your not running on the main jets your running on the needles or the Pitot jet or both.

Ted.

Yea that is what i thought Ted, i will take my pilots to a 15 from a 17.5. And put her back togeather, then play with the needles if i have to.

Thank you Skydog

I think you'll be putting the 17.5's back in after about 10 minutes.

Where are your needles at?

I think they are all the way up. With the stock springs. You think just dropping them will help a ton? I hate pulling the carbs.

Thank you Skydog

I was fitting a lean spot in mid range before that is why i rasied them up.

Thank you Skydog

140 mains
1425' ELEVATION
20 pilots
fuel screw 2 turns
needles???
0 in pitot .... 12.2 -12.5 1500/5300
300 in pitot ... no real change.
700 in pitot ..12.5-13.0 1500/5300
no boost
straight VP Q16
needs on lake tuning

Drop your needles to #2 position and see what happens, guess you will be pretty close.

My sled with 17.5 pilots at 2 turns out goes to 15.5 AFR if I leave it at idle for a minute. Slow driving is 14.5.

I have to agree with lakercr on the pilots, do not go down to 15 before you have played with the needle.

1500-2000 ft elev. 130 mains, 17.5's, needles in the middle, screws 1 1/2 out, red carb springs, 300 pitot...runs awesome...13-13.5 idle, 14-14.5 cruising, around 11 wot at 7 psi on pump premium(want it a little rich for those real cold days or i can lean it out with pitot easily), stock engine.
Chris
By the way, it was real hard to tune until i got the billet carb caps

Have not yet, i pulled the carbs all off, still woundering if i should put the 15 piolts in it or not? It is just so rich right where the piolts would help. I hate to lower my needles and have my lean spot come back in the low boost area.

Skydog P.S. You guys need more fuel higher elev. right??
