IF YOU WANT THE BEST GLUE REMOVER USE RAPIDTAC REMOVER,THIS THE ONLY STUFF I EVER USE,IVE USED IT ON CARS,GLASS,AND EVEN MY SLED TO REMOVE THE GLUE AFTER PEELING STICKER.THE KEY IS SPRYA SOME ON WAIT A MINUTE OR 2 AND WIPE OFF(REPEAT)I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANY SOLVENT BASED PRODUCTS,IF YOU GET ANY SOLVENT BASED PRODUCT ON THE WIDSHIELD AND OTHER CERTAIN PLASTICS IT WILL TURN THEM WHITE AND PLAIN JUST RUIN A WINDSHIELD......
Thanks for sharing that. I'll stay away from the Goof off.

Hey - for what its worth all I did on my RTX was peel them off verrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyy slowly- no need to wipe with anything as there was nothing left of them, at all.
sometimes you get lucky like that, but if you dont use rapidtac remover.
OK - a replacement from Yamaha is $200 - ouch!
I really don't feel good about $200 for a small piece of plastic - so that leaves either a body shop or a sticker.
There are 4 screws that apear to hold the panel on. They come out easily, but I'm not sure how to free the panel from the gas tank filler neck. Anyone know how to get it off? I don't want to ruin anything else.
Thanks
Bill

The gas tank filler neck is a rubber grommet that slides up and out for removal. It is very simple to remove.

I used elbow grease and a citrus cleaner to take those ugly stickers off my bike. First tried the fabled WD-40 the citrus worked better and smelled better too. Even the bees thought so as a number came around to check out what that sweet smell was.

It seems very solid - do I just yank it up?
I checked with color-rite.com. They don't have the new paints yet (expecting them within a week or two) - but it will be $67 for half a pint unless it requires two kinds mixed together (which they said about half do) then it will be $67 X 2. When you add it all up I'm not sure a body shop would be any cheaper than ordering the new panel!

I can feel your pain as in when I rolled my sled on a snowbank. Luckily only 300 bucks for my dumb move. Ya right say it fast!
It hurts man but its a new sled. Go with your heart!

There are probably lots of products that work well, at the shop for removing decals we use.....STARRETT M1 All Purpose Lubricant & then wash it down with warm soapy water
update
Well - when I was crying about my tank blemish at work the other day I learned that my secretaries husband does custom motorcycle paint jobs as a side business. He has his own small paint shop - and is going to repaint it for free (except for the cost of materials). I had no idea her husband was so cool
Also - I was able to remove the rubber gas tank gromet and get the tank panel off (thanks ysiride).

I like to think that at least a few of them may be as stupid as me!
