We'd like to make the -09 MTX a bit more trail friendly and have an Arctic 13.5"x151"x1.5" track avaliable from a friend (Camoplast #1602-398). What do you think, would it be possible to use this track without rail extensions and skid relocation if we switch the 8 tooth drivers to 10 tooth and also use an offset axel with 8" rear wheels?
A bonus would be an improved angle of attack, should we ever get a lot of snow again ...
Thanks for your input!

no i dont think it will work, and if you go to 10 tooth you will be severely gearing this sled up and it will creat problems with your clutching. 8 to 10 is a big jump. The extensions are a good 5 to 6 inches and I dont think these changes will add up to enough length.

Yes, gearing has to be considered but might be possible fo fix. Diameter of 8 tooth is ~6.26" and 10 tooth ~7.83" so the radius from the centre of the drive shaft is increased by ~13% when going to 10 tooth/1.5". The AC track should be easier to spin though.
I expected the rail extensions to add about half the extra track length, ~3.5". Someone around here mentioned that 8" rear wheels moves the axel 1"+ forward.

Move the skid back 1.25" with 9 tooth drivers and the axle slid all the way back and the 151 fits.

I don't think adding the 151" to the sled is going to make it trail friendly at all. You are going to end up with a long and narrow track with a narrow front end. To me this would make it less trail friendly.
I would suggest tackling the trail handling by working the front end (stabalizer bar, set the front end to the widest setting, upgrade with some adjustable shocks, try a different set of skiis or just new carbide runners).
Just my opinion.

My bad, I had to slide it back 2.25 inches.
