I am looking to remove around 20lbs.
I think I am going to start with the treadmill :exc: , then I will go to the gym a little more and last I think I am going to watch what I eat a little more.

These are some of the things I have done to my -09 SE:
Remove sway bar (not needed for proper handling anyway...).
Remove parking brake (a paper clip at 0.1 grams can do the same job...).
Remove foam material inside fairings (easier for cleaning, too...).
Remove fairings covering the silencer (you want to show your new silencer...).
Remove stud protectors (mandatory for proper track...).
Remove idler wheels (only when conditions allow this...).
Akrapovic titanium/carbon exhaust (close to five kilograms off in one go...).
Titanium springs (expensive...).
Titanium suspension bolts (and you think the springs were expensive...).
Now looking at lighter battery, lighter front end A-arms, reverse gear removal and possibly installing even more titanium bolts and a set of proper carbon fiber fairings...
Anyway, start by removing the crap that you do not need for your type of riding.
This is for free and fully complies with the old saying - "there is no lighter parts than the ones left in your garage"...

By the way, you might want to have a look at some of the threads in the mountain section. The guys in that section seem to be little bit more interested in weight savings...

20 pounds off the rider is the cheapest and easiest. I am hoping for 50 by next season.

I'm working on the 20 lb rider reduction and trying to get there with out the amputation of non-essential body parts. Also, I'm considering filling the handlebars with helium.
You'd have to shed 55-60 pounds off the sled just to see a 10% difference. I bet it could be done but you’d have a one-season, disposable sled. And, no money left to buy gas.
Doing things to keep the sled from gaining weight during a ride, by reducing ice build-up on the tunnel and skid, would be a better approach, in my opinion.

I took over 100lbs off my Apex last year. It was very easy but expensive and I felt it was worth it. You can do the same as me. Just go down to your nearest Doo dealer and buy a XR 1200 X pkg. The best part is you can eat all the french fries you want and drink as much beer as you can stand and you will never be as heavy as an Apex with an anorectic aboard.

x2. Yea those guys definately spend more time on weight watchers. :exc: I think there's a couple of threads going right now with guys who have their sleds on a diet.

Sorry about that, I've always felt that the whole weight thing is a big joke so I just wanted to have some fun.
