On the contrary actually...most everyone with suspension complaints say they bottom too easily, and a bunch are sending out their shocks for revalve or going with stiffer and/or progressive springs.
But maybe you've heard from different people than I have...just my thought on the topic.
Generally I fully agree with ya on your hopes for the new Nytro. I sincerely hope take the jumps and big hits MUCH better than the skids they've been setting up to-date.
Im with youl.... I havent had any PMs from people saying there too stiff.. Only complaints that they are too soft..

I agree. I see some pretty narly trails where I ride and it sucks when you want to stand up and hit the moguls and the rear skid cant handle it. I am going to snowcheck the nytro rtx I am hoping that it can take whatever I throw at it.

I totally agree with you two. All of the complaints I hear (and experience) are that the suspensions are too soft and too easy to bottom out and that includes the 2007 RTX.
I would hope that Yamaha finally starts to release "big bump sleds" with the RTX name that really are big bump sleds. I don't see any reason not to since they offer everything from "GT - groomed trail" for a softer ride with lots of adjustment, "base model" for the average rider, and "RTX - Rough Trail Xtreme" for guys who want a really firm ride (lots of high speed damping). Based on what I've read and experienced Yamaha currently is offering sleds that are all too softly sprung and damped for the market. Everyone I know has made changes to their Apex's to firm them up, yet no-one I know riding Skidoo has had to.
Out of all of the posts on these forums there is only one I can think of where someone is complaining about too firm a ride. He bought and RTX and is looking for a very soft ride. Everyone else wants their suspension firmer.

how do u plan on handling 3-4 ft moguls with any sled? anything over 2 ft and over any distance will either make u so tired that you wont be able to turn teh bars or you will be disconnected from your sled while in the air because you didnt time the gaps right....you cannot go 80mph over 3-4 ft moguls

WOW, thats exactly what I said yesterday and ended up getting censored for it.
Guess the use of the words idiot and clown are forbidden.
the nytro needs to make the irritating stutter bumps dissappear as well as stay in syc. from front to rear in the big whoops.
shouldn't be a problem, they actually could have done it with the pro action and DID for one year in the 05 warrior and rage...pro action ck.

Yeah, pretty much. And I very much applaud the efforts of the modulators who keep such junk under control here. HCS would welcome you with open arms, however...
There's nothing wrong with expressing your opinion, but anything coming close to a personal attack will get quickly shut down. And calling people idiots and clowns is pretty much a personal attack in most people's minds around here.
Anwho...live and learn. We all sincerely welcome your opinion as much as everyone else's.

Back to the topic, do you guys notice it seems how the softer and more compliant Yamaha skids come calibrated from the factory, the better reviews they seem to get from some of the mags? (supertrax) ???
I wouldn't be suprised if Supertrax thinks the Nytro RTX rides way too stiff. They even complained about last years Rev XRS.
This is the Yamaha many of us enthusiasts have patiently waited for, myself included. I hope Yamaha calibrates the skids accordingly, not by what the opinion of a couple upper-middle-aged mag editors think.

Yeah, magazine testers are sit-down drivers. That's a conundrum for builders who want to give customers what they want but don't want to get burned in the media.

IMO, they should make the suspension for all of the RTX line very firm and stiff and advertise it as such. I don't mean snowcross stiff, but definitely much stiffer than the current 07 RTX and also offer a selection of springs that will give the right ride height for any weight rider or rider who wants to carry extra weight. The low speed damping should be low enough to give a good ride on smooth trails, but the high speed damping should be very aggressive, especially the "very high speed damping" so it can handle big hits without bottoming.
I've had some of my previous sleds set up by Mike Carver (Fox snowcross guru) and he sets them up with a wickedly aggressive very high speed damping. The ride is firm, but good on regular trails and under regular riding, but when you hit a huge bump at speed the shocks completely damp out the high speed shock motion and its very difficult to bottom out. I know I'm dreaming, but it would be awesome if Yamaha could setup their RTX line with shock damping like this.

I don't go looking for big bumps. I wanted the Nytro for the all too frequent times when they find me.
I love the way the sled works on smooth trails as well as in the rough stuff.
