powder performance. How does limiter strap affect it?

Just wondering if anyone has experimented with pulling their limiter strap tighter to reduce the approach angle. I have an attak and know it will affect steering too but I am hoping it will help get me up on top of the powder a little better maybe.

I pulled mine to the highest setting as it seems to have the best angle at that point. I like how it has lowered the sled by a couple of inches and it seems to me it should handle much better although I am worried that the ski pressure may be too extreme.

I set my transfer to 3/4 max instead of half max to try and preserve some holeshot ability.

my last settings were stock strap setting of third hole down and transfer at half max. front springs barely touching with weight off skis. I run powderhounds and bergstrom 8 inch triples with 168 studs in the rip saw.

I ride probably 35-40% off trail so I am hoping this can help a little. I know I need a better track to get serious about flotation but i am just trying to get better 8-10 inch deep snow performance. I can stay within range of my riding buddies 800 and 1000 gades on the hard pack and even take a few but as soon as we get into some decent snow they eat me alive...

any comments or advice would be helpful...
 
It does help some, but does allow the front to dive in the deep stuff as well. You have to learn to ease off the throttle in the deep or it may dive in to the windshield and you go over the bars, been there done that. Not sure how wide the powderhounds are they may limit the dive, I've got simmons gen2's which helps a bunch.
 
Since you've already changed skis, which if you want to ride off trail on an apex/attak is a must. I would say the track is your next requirement. On my apex I could basically stop in pow and the front would stay afloat, give it gas and I'm on the move. However I just could gain any real speed in the pow. From what I've read here and knowing what my shorty did in the deep I think the thing really holding you back is the track.
 
I have found one hole tighter than stock seems to be the best for my setup. I run the powderhounds aswell, any tighter than that and the ski pressure is too much to handle. You should put on anything but a ripsaw and your off trail will be much improved.
 
Most obvious is hard to steer...very heavy steering. You will lose top speed. Personal preference is a lot of it as well. If you are doing a lot of powder riding you will need less pressur to keep the front up.
