Ok I've decided to add a few more ponies with a PC V and K&N kit (don't know if I should wait for Ulmers intake or not) to go along with my MBRP can. So being on a budget my question is, do I "have to" change clutching? It's an extra $400.00 so it's going to put me over. I think I'd rather spend the money for clutching on a roll over valve. What are your guys take on this? I know it would help but is clutching mandatory with this type of set-up?

No you dont have to change, i have basically the same setup (pc5, mbrp can, k&N's and excell header too) I could hit the limiter sometimes with the stock setup. Nothing huge to worry about, it will be harder on the belt, but i only blew one in two seasons. I have the ulmer clutch kit now so we will see how this season goes with it.

If your rpms are high and you don't want to spend the money on clutching you can add heavier rivets to the stock clutch weights and it will cost you about $3.00

I was always only ever managing to hit 8600-8700 rpm's. Maybe this will put me up to the upper limit now.

To take full advantage of your new power you would need to reclutch. Its worth the money for sure.

I'm wanting to add a pc5... Im planing on getting an airbox mod from hurricane.. I already have a open exhaust, cr10 plugs, planed and ported heads and clutch kit. My problem is finding a map that would match all this. I know there's one for intake and exhaust but not head work. Any ideas?

Doesn't hurricane do head work also? He might have a map for you

Perhaps I can get along with some new weights and pri spring. I'll tell by the end of the season if I need to change Helix and sec spring. ..........Or I'll be wrenching instead of riding? I'll see what i can do as the season progresses. Always get some good gouge from this site.

Do a search for one of Turks old threads..he did some tweaking of the stock clutching with stock parts...$150ish for everything and claimed it worked very well.

My last kick at the cat. I'd like your guys opinion on what mods to order.I can only go with 2 due to funds. So for the 2 of the 3 what's it goin to be. PC V, K&N's, clutch kit. What are your thought's. I'm 90% trail and lake with a little ditch baggin and rarely sometimes powder running. I've been told that PC is not a must but more or less the icing. Man I hate these decisions....

Well you can't do the K&Ns till you have the PCV as it will most likely create a lean condition. The PCV is of no use unless you already need it because of the exhaust you have.

A good adjustable clutch kit is always at the top of my list. It's more important to put the power that you have to the ground then adding more. ...and once more power is added you need to harness that.

That being said a clutch "kit" does not have to be expensive as shadow44 spoke to. You just need to get the RPMs in the proper range.

So my vote is to start with a good clutch kit. ;)!

if youre looking to add power leave that MBRP off, its too open of a design. sounds great though. I actually lost HP on the dyno, maybe yours will be different as each sled is, just a heads up. Id save the $$ on the can and put it toward a header or clutching but like PRO says you can drill your stock weight rivets out and put other yamaha rivets in to get it dialed in then just find different springs

Thnaks guys.
Been pickin everyones brain on this and the majority says,,,,,insert drum roll,,,,Kashing,,,,,,,, Clutching!!!! Gotta screw with it, that's what it boil's down to. Hummph, now to get ahold of Allan and Dave!

I did all the power adders last year and got absolutly no gain!! The power simply just is not getting to the ground so im digging into the pocket book and going with schmidt bros stage 2 kit. Im hoping to be riding a whole different machine this comming year
