My apex looks like it might be a little colder than my rx1. Was looking at the powermadd star series with mirror. Will these make much of a difference with the cold? Where is the cheapest place to kit these i'm looking for blue and white. Thanks

In my experience, not much. I run gauntlets when it gets really cold.Rove44 said:My apex looks like it might be a little colder than my rx1. Was looking at the powermadd star series with mirror. Will these make much of a difference with the cold?

i have powermadd handguards on my 06 rtx, they don't work very well for blocking that harsh wind on those cold days. i am replacing them with these hand guards, which are supposed to be much better for cold riding but still keep that sporty look!!http://www.royaldistributing.com/ShoppingCart/MiddleRedirect.aspx?page=Snow2009/245.html
They are the ones in the bottom right corner for 36.95 Heat locs

I'm hearing they tend to roll around the bar at high speed and when they do that, they ain't doing much good.
Can some one chime in who's had some seat time to varify.

I had the same setup that you are referring to for the last two years, I finally took them off this fall and am done with them! Got too tired of them hitting my windshield and pulling off the little black edging. Very frusting when you can`t fully turn your handlebars!! I tried a quick modification on the mounting bracket but with no luck!! I did feel however that they did cut the wind down somewhat. Good luck!

A TY advertiser sells HeatLocs guards. So far I have had good luck dealing with them.

I have the heat loc hand guards on my apex since last year. They do help with wind protection, but not as much as you might think just by looking at them. They work well enough that I plan to keep using them.... however, you may want to consider the Yamaha version. A friend of mine recently purchased them and they look to be a little wider (top to bottom) and would provide a little better protection.
I have never experienced roll over as others have claimed, but I am also running to the stock plastic yamaha hand guards behind the heat loc guards which causes them to be a little stiffer. No issues with my windshield getting hit either.
Final note about Sled Solutions... Good people to deal with, and very patient. I ordered from him last year and got irritated because the guards I wanted were back ordered.... not really his fault. As soon as they arrived in stock, they were shipped out to me.

Powermadd has an extension available that increased the size of the handguard. I like powermadd for the Mirror. If it is super cold nothing beats gauntlets.
