What a difference a day makes. Yesterday (President's Day) we had temps in the 20's (F) and today the mercury is hitting the low 40's. With my son having the day off from school and the promise of snow from the weather prognosticators, we decided to seize the day ... and what a day it was. Left home around 9:30 in the morning and didn't make it back until 8 that evening. About 130 miles round trip. Not bad for an 8-year boy and his 20 plus year old sled! I made sure I thanked him for the good memories. I hope he enjoyed it as much as I did.
One final note - On the way home we ran into a fellow TY'r (Digital Fusion). It was my first time meeting him. Super nice guy. Just one more reason why I enjoy this site.

looks like both of you had a good time. when his friends asked what he did on his day off, he will say went snowmobiling and all his friends will be jealous. the smile on his face says it all
He's got a quirky sense of humor. When I came home from work the next day, he met me in our entry way and complained that his thumb was sore. I was a little slow on the uptake, and didn't get the inference at first, so I asked him why his thumb was so sore and he just smiled at me with an all-knowing grin (like it was our big secret) and said "It's not from playing video games". That's when I realized what he was referring to ... and that in his own subtle way he was letting me know that he had a good time.

That is so neat. Wish I could have taken my son on rides like that when he was that age. Didn't get around to it till he was about 16. I was to busy working when he was younger, and now I really regret it. Can never get those years back.

All stock except the skis, front shocks and track. The skis are actually OE Phazer skis. I put them on the Snosport when I bought a set of Curves for my Phazer. I had to put new front shocks on last year when the OE Shocks, which are not re-buildable developed bad seals and froze up. The new front shocks are custom, and in my opinion, are too stiff. They really need lighter springs and a re-valve to make them more trail compliant for my son's weight. The OE track was in rough shape when I got the sled, but luckily I found I guy in New York who claimed Yamaha's patent on the original track that Yokohama made for these sleds had run out, and that he had found a company in Sweden who could make them. This guys said he restores old Scoots and Sports, and orders about 20 of these tracks each year. I was a little skeptical, but took a chance and it has turned out to be a decent track. It's exactly the same specs as the OE, and maybe even has a little better rubber durometer. I only wish it had a taller lug. I also replaced the trackshaft and skid wheel bearings when I installed the new track. Other than that, it's all stock.
