Primary clutching expert i need help!

My kit from Ulmer has washers and screws to add weights. It came with a Helix and both a primary and a secondary spring as well as many washers and 3 weights.

I also have the Yamaha version of clutch kit/ weights. I just talked to Allen from ulmer new kit on the way, there's a reason the Yamaha version cost half of ulmer. I'm getting 8300 rpm low 8450 mid 8500 top= no power. instead of messing with rivets I'm going with ulmer also Allen is a hell of a nice guy on the phone

Yes that could have been done but the bottom line is that its not right from the start. Is the Helix right, Springs? Its more than the weight on the arms.

I understand that they all need some fine tuning. The Ulmer/MPI one has been developed and tested on the Viper with the MPI turbo. They have done dozens and have the feedback to fine tune it before you buy it. There are other kits out there as well that are working very well. I chose the Ulmer and it has worked as advertised with the settings provided from day one.

Its sort of an odd thing. Yamaha encourages you to put on the MPI turbo but then does not include any clutching. I give the dealer credit for trying but without a lot of experience they are just guessing as they have no way to test. They are also just throwing factory stuff and hoping the sum of the parts makes a good set up.

Your generalizing....the dealers aren't just tossing parts at it..lucky you that Ulmer kit worked for you right off.all I'm saying is that ten minutes of effort drilling three rivets would be worth it before jumping into another kit.

Or a spring change first. But if we dont know what OP has... Heck you might even get what you want by just adding shims. Either way yourself or Ulmer you will get your higher engagement if you specifically ask for it. Dont forget.

I'm not saying the Yamaha kit isn't for some people but it's not for me. I'm sure even wth the ulmer kit there is some tuning, but it's easier for me to tune with screws and washers then drilling out rivets in the garage at our cabin in the up. My dealer is one of the best around with many turbos under their belt, they wanted to try the Yamaha weight/kit so myself and another guy tried them next to ulmer set ups we are getting beat
