Looks like the factory holes?

OK I'm jealous.
I've been working a month on getting a 153 AC M skid into my 153, complete with new front holes/plates and rear back drop brackets, and this looks like a drop in???
Mind you a 151 skid would be an easier retrofit due to approach angle geometry, 7 tooth driver, etc, but I never suspected a bolt in.
Very cool....

Sorry, it's late and I wasn't thinking clearly.....The RMK's skid you are using is a 155? Wow!
Mike, spill the beans on this please.

It's a 155 skid, 162 track and the stock 153 tunnel. The skid bolts into the stock holes but polaris has a narrower tunnel so you have to shim the cross shafts. The rails will clear extrovert drivers with no trimming.
Rick, that's recon_ross's nytro. There's another one in the garage right now getting a van amburg tunnel. My stock skid will be for sale soon if you're looking to upgrade

So I wana know why we cant put a 163 Poo/Doo skid in and use a 163/62 track?? This way you would have WAY more track on the ground and increase the floatation. Why are we stuck using the shorter 155 skids?! And I understand that new mounting holes would be needed, but wouldnt it be worth it??

If they had installed a 155 track, that skid would have to move forward 3.5", I think you'd probably have clearance issues with the drivers unless you trimmed the rail tips.

The arms and rails are different length then the stock yamaha skid. The polaris 155 skid will accept a 162 with the stock mounting holes of a nytro, however a 162 would be way to long for a 162 track and stock mounting points. You would have to move it forward and then you would have clearance issues with the driveshaft hitting the rail tips. You would need to step up to a 174 and probably a big wheel kit or set back. As for this setup, it worked out perfect.

You have a side by side picture? Was the poo skid the same height in front and back?

Hey Beeze,
I'll bet its pretty close because you have the room (front to back) with a 155 skid and 162 track to get the suspension ride height similar to stock.
That has been my biggest problem with the AC skid install....I'm loosing over an inch of ground clearance (although lowering my CG) because of the combination of a shallow 22 degree approach angle (relative to the gound) and a short radius rail bend up front . Btw I have no idea how the manufactures calculate their advertized 18 degree approach angle because the AC, Timbersled and Yami '10 and newer are all 22 deg +/- 1 deg) relative to the ground, measured with a Starrett protractor...
What you quickly realize when looking at "alternate" suspension setups is how sensitive they ALL are to approach angle/driver size/rail configuration. You gotta tread carefully to make these fit, and often they just don't
Ultimately, if you want to install a 155 skid in a 153 track, you'd have to cut rails, and use new mounts as Nikolai suggested. A 163 doo/poo would likely require similar action.
No easy straight trade installs out there unless its a shorter skid combined with a longer track, and even these can be a pita.
