Here is something for you Nytro owner's to get excited for, Project S.O.S:

After 19 years of racing I made the decision to step down and "retire" from competition due to spinal injuries from all the years racing but before I am done there is one more project that I have wanted to do for awhile which we now refer to as Project S.O.S.

My wife Andrea was like "you want to do what??" and my father said "why would you do that??"

On February 3rd my father passed away so this event will be dedicated to him...

We created a Facebook event page for Project S.O.S and have been posting pics and updates during the build, which you can check out at:

On May 19th we will give you the full inside scoop on Project S.O.S on here as well as on the Facebook page: Project S.O.S

We will post behind the scenes pictures, do sponsor highlights, and showcase products we will be using during the build for this project.

Any fan interaction is welcome but this is all in fun so keep it clean and if you are one of the people that are within the circle please keep the details hush, we want this to be a surprise :-)

We had the sled out last night for a few test runs and very happy with the results, some chassis changes for set-up and the crew is confident we will be ready!

I have attached a pic from two days ago as the sled nears completion, just waiting on front bumper from Racewerx and install our custom wrap.

Thanks, I fell in love with the Nytro at the spring '07 Yamaha dealer show and after racing one now for a couple seasons with great success I had been building my dream sled in my mind for years.

Now I am finally able to do it and absolutely love how it is turning out, and all the mods are not just :bling !!

Project S.O.S means Skip or Swim...

Monday morning we will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for Distance traveled by a snowmobile on water!!

Current record is 43.3 miles but Mark Maki holds the unofficial record at 61.7 so we are shooting to break Mark's record.

We will be based out of TJ's Harbor Restaurant in Southern Oshkosh, WI and making the attempt on Lake Winnebago.

didn't henry beida go 100 miles back in 1986 or 87 on a skidoo safari ? isn't the current record over a 105 miles ?

Current Guinness record is 43.3, those old records never have been verified and authenticated so...

Wind was a HUGE issue today, looked good where we were and made two attempts before we called it for now.

First run did not go well but second was going really good until I cleared the bay and got around the corner to access the main lake and that is when encountered 2-3' waves...

Started dropping speed and power pounding through so tried to move in closer to shore but lake won today.

Plan is to go again this fall and do some more in depth testing but more importantly a smaller lake more protected as the sled rocked when in the smaller chop.

Had two Yamaha 1100 PWC's and they even struggled in the conditions and were left in the Nytro's wake.

GoPro footage and pics to come in the next few days.

We are NOT done yet!

Thanks for all the support and we will show them that Genesis 4 Stroke MPG will dominate mileage both on snow and water!!

2-3ftrs is knarly even for a waverunner much less a sled. def need some video of this...

Any updates? Cant seem to find the Facebook page

I couldnt find it either.

Awesome looking sled though. ;)!

Well... Conditions were less than favorable for the sled let alone pwc's.

2-3' snow drifts equal tons of fun but 2-3' waves not so much fun :-(

We didn't drive 5 hours to enjoy the sun & warm weather so even though conditions were exactly what we didn't want I decided to try anyway!!

Grabbed a fistful of throttle & was off!

American Snowmobiler has the recap online :Project SOS - American Snowmobiler

We are changing venues & making adjustments for Project SOS part 2!!
