Having some trouble pressure checking my buddies Bender Turbo. We made an adapter to hook up to the turbo to check the system from the turbo forward. He thinks its leaking through the turbo & up the exhaust pipe & into the motor. I'm thinking this is not the case because I would think that would mean the seals were shot & if thats the case would it also be burning oil big time? Also, it seems to totally flood the motor big time.. We are putting about 15lbs of pressure on it.. Is the proper way to do this? Should we be checking one component at a time? We can't seem to get more than 10 lbs out of the turbo. Tried shortening the rod length, plugging the actuator to turbo hose etc... Maybe the turbo is weak? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What elvation and what jetting is he running. He may be jetted too rich. Turbos need heat to build boost and too rich doesn't build as much heat to get the job done right, Ken.

The way to check the system is, take the turbo out of the picture. Take the hose off the turbo, put your adapter with shop air there with an air regular. Remove the carbs, plugged the back side of them. What ever boost you are running, turn the air pressure to that. Then get out the soap/water, spray it down and look for bubbles. On hi-way trucks, that run 30lbs, they allow 5lbs drop in 15 seconds. Likely going to get leaks at clamps/hoses/carb t's/carb caps/choke shafts.

Thats what we'll try. So far it looks like his BOV leaks big time over 9lbs which explains alot.
