going to pick up a 2017 LTX LE, it has a TD tune(260) quiet trail and loud muffler, it is studded and looks super clean, owned by a very particular person...
anything specific to look for before handing over a stack of money?

Yeah, quite a few if it were me.
TD 260 tune with 2 mufflers, probably a Powertrail tune. Makes a difference to me as to what era tune he has in it.
Newer tunes allow you to see amount of boost psi on the stock dash gauge, and also has what is known as the knock light which could be your engine saver on longggg pulls with bad gas. Updated flashes for previously mentioned are available.
Have him show you how to take the side panels and hood off. Takes 30 seconds and will allow you to then check out stuff under the hood and panels, plus you will then know how to get to the fuse panel etc, Incase!
Stock windshield on that LE looks good but that is it, so hopefully he has remedied that.
Stock skis also suck, so look at what he has done for those, not saying you need other but atleast sno trackers if he kept the stock skis.
Rollers on the secondary only last about 500 miles so aftermarket is a must.
Primary rollers need a check, just spin each one and make sure there is no play side to side and up and down, and no missing side washers and check roller nuts for tightness. Must have a clutch kit? Never spin the clutch backwards, could result in timing chain skip!!
You say studded, so I am guessing he has rear heat exchanger Protectors.
All other usual stuff that should be checked on any sled before purchase.
How many miles?? Has he done the chaincase maintenance?
Make sure you start it of course. It should idle down to 1500 once it gets through the cold start sequence.
Try reverse and then back to forward.
FYI when checking primary clutch, never spin the clutch backwards!!!
Just 1 of my 2 cents. Do not want to be too subjective, but more is better then less.
Get rid of the loud muffler if you are riding in Maine.
Good luck with your purchase, hope this helps. Lot’s of power that is for sure if it is the Powertrail tune.

awesome info MotorHead, Thanks!
stock skis with snow trackers
I will ask about the flash
it has the Dalton Clutch set up
one windshield is a full windshield
heat exchanger is protected
3000 miles, all maintenance performed
I will run the quiet muffler, I ma new to the Sidewinder but currently ride a Viper so I am familiar with the platform, hood removal etc...

Check front heat exchanger to be sure it isn't chewed up.

Nice sled, sounds like he knows how to set it up hope all works out for you! The ride and power are very impressive.
That model has the best shocks, and that heated seat on these cold days comes in handy ! I do not leave it on, too hot even on low.

I have exact setup same sled but 2018.Check both the chain case and oil reservoir case for oil leakage-seepage. Very common as its a poor gasket design from factory. You will see a little leakage below the right side of belly pan if you are sitting on sled. Had mine resealed twice form dealer( under warranty). If it is under warranty just have dealer do both. they ARE going to leak. Its the price of admission. Once sealed good should be good for awhile.
