Hi all, new to TY and love this site. Learned lots about my new sled on here and seems to be all great info. Anyhow, I just upgraded from a 76' Enticer 250 to a 06 Apex ER with 1600 miles, absolutely MINT! The guy I bought it from put a taller windshield on it, fox floats, and dooly's. He upgraded the idlers and did the handwarmer upgrade. After doing some reading on here, I added the Ulmer anit-rub kit and and added the new style snow flap. The questions I have for you experts out there have to do with my track. It has 144 StudBoy SS power points in the 12 row V pattern and every other outside lug studded. It has blue round Studboy poly backers. The track was drilled for 192 but he left every other outside open. So...... do I leave it the way it is or take the outsides out? Im not sure how tight they go, but they seem not to be sitting flush with the inside of the track. With a 3/8" ratchet, I snug a few, and they still seem not to be sucking all the way in. I dont want to be blowing up all the idlers leaving them loose or breaking the backers ny going too tight. I want this track to last, It is still like new and I'm not sure what to to do. I will try to get some pics up this afternoon to help explain. I know leaving 96 up the middle will not be enough for this thing, but I'm afraid of ruining the track if an outside stud rips out. Not sure if adding to the inside pattern is possible. I'm a semi-agressive rider, mostly groomed trails with some lake riding. What should I do??? Thanks in advance and sorry for the LOOONG post!

The odd holes will not hurt with no studs in them. Tracks studded on the outside used to come apart allot more then the quility/design of todays tracks. i just studded my current sled on the outside for the first time in about 15 years. They should be snug with a 3/8" rachet or about 4 in lbs for poly backers. 96 studs wont be enough but the less studs the better. 144 should be good but some do run 192 for traction/racing on ice. i would leave them in the outside but pull them if you dont feel good about it. Having all the studs in the center IMO turn better for trail riding as the pivot point is not as wide is the theory. Have fun and hang on as it has a little more power then the Enticer!

i studded my 07 GT apex with around 196 or so studs. 1.375 Woodys stainless studs with tall nuts, and aluminum backers.

i have had 144 inside the windows for a couple years without issue, and just within the last 300 miles put another 60 or so outside the window.

i am very soon going to remove them, because i have now pulled 8 studs through the track, all of them being outside the windows. within 300 miles of installing them. there is less than 3000 miles on the track, and entire sled for that matter.
