Some of us have issues with our sleds and post them on this site to let other people know what issues to look for on their sleds and hopefully get suggestions and fixes for those who are affected.
I guess where I am going with this is that I want to know how many Apex's were built this year. I hope those numbers will help those who are concerned that they every sled is going to have these issues. I really believe that these new Yamaha's are the truly the best built sleds on earth.
If you think you can buy ANY new sled by any manufacture and not have any issues you are too much!

Exactly!
I think people are riding these things harder than ever and expect it to be flawless. We had alot of $#@#$% riding conditions which doesn't help. I beat the snot out of mine this winter , but was fortunate not to have any of the minor problems.

1280 miles and no problems. 1 bad bogey wheel, dealer replaced both. I have the original hyfax on and no issues. People are 10X's more likely to post or bring up negative issues than positive issues. I think these sleds are very well built. It sounds as if there is a fix comming for warmers. I could not be happier withy this sled!!!
The problem is, Yam has typically been a trail cruiser sled, over the past 2-3 years, they have gained a lot of market share and a lot more aggressive crowd of riders are buying their sleds now. Only makes sense they have to catch up in the suspension dept. And they are getting there. It is just too bad many of us had to be guinea pigs.

I have 1800 miles on my Attak, zero problems. I'm glad to be a Yamaha guinea pig, wouldn't want to ever be a PolCatDoo pig.

7500 miles on my 03 never not gotten me home jackshaft bearing at 2000 miles (updated to 04 part) had to clean the carbs once this year. All bogie wheels are original, by far the best sled i've ever owned.

One of the major benefits of this site is ability to share sled incidents with each other and often times find a solution. The tippyness on the 03 RX-1 and the straight rate spring solution is a perfect example. Ted's $16 clutch improvement is another.welterracer said:Just because 40 people respond to a post doesn't mean that everyone's sled is blowing up like it is blown up to be..

Where it gets frustrating is when people stop being constructive and just want to complain.

2200 miles on my Attak, and nothing major this season, haven't even lost an idler wheel. This has been a trust worthy sled, never been in fear of not making it home!

We've gotta be the lightest guys of the bunch. The sled doesn't even know we are on it. No wonder why we don't wear anything out.

Yes, last time I checked I've had both of my new vehicles in the shop within the first year, and oh yeah I've had my homebuilder back numerous times to our new home and I've even had computer issues at my home and office, surprising, no these are all mechanical items, lifes tough, wear a helmet.
Dog,
Oh I forgot to mention the 2 new Collett's I've returned this year, the only thing that hasn't failed me is my faith and love for my family!

Reading this site does make you worry but it also gives you invaluable information like the chaincase vent on the dipstick. I've almost never checked my chaincase oil and now I am prepared to minimize the chances of that failure.

I think all of these sites (Arcticchat, DooTalk, TY, and whatever Poo has) will scare someone new to the brand. For the most part there is no reason to post that you wnet riding for a week and the sled was great, no problems. Mostly guys are posting here to get help with issues they have or to find out more about issues that someone else had.
