question about replacing secondary shaft bearing

2007 Yamaha apex gt and 2012 Yamaha apex xtx
can anyone tell me if you can change the bearing behind the secondary sheave without taking the whole chaincase apart and popping out the shaft.. I really dont want to take the whole chaincase apart just to change this bearing. any help would be appreciated.
 
Is it necessary? I've always just popped the seal, cleaned the old grease out and then added fresh. 10,000 miles on my Attak. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Just maintain it!!!

And I think you have to pop the shaft to change that...but could be wrong.
 
You have to pop the shaft to change that bearing. You also need to throw the new bearing in the freezer for awhile in order to get it to fit.
I've always pulled the seal and cleaned out the old grease, then replaced with new grease using a grease needle on my gun. So far (12,000 miles) this has worked even though I'm getting a little nervous as I rack on the miles.

jackshaft bearing replacement

thanks kaz for the link, I changed the bearing on my rx1 last year, was not that hard to change, just time consuming. I though maybe the apex would be easier to change, looks like its the same procedure. I think yamaha should put a bracket on the frame so this bearing can be easier to change. the lower driveshaft bearing was easy to replace, changed it in 30 minutes.
