Hey guys I got the skid out of my Venture, I am going through all the wheels and greasing all the bearings, my question is the rear most wheels where the long bolt goes through, the outside wheels have a collar on both sides of the bearing preventing me from pulling the seal off, are those collars removable? If they are how? Thanks Komo!

I didn't realize the seals were removable. I think what you're talking about (collar) are spacers. However, if you look at a parts breakdown of your sled model and year of the rear axle it should show what you are asking about.
 
If you have the skid out, take a very close look at all the rear and upper wheel bearings. Everything can be taken apart. Replacing any suspect bearings is now the time do it. Also check your slides.

I don't know what the wheels look like but is there a snap ring holding the bearings into the wheel? I'll look in a fiche.....

Looking at the fiche on a 2011 Venture it shows that the bearing is removeable from the inside. Just how that bearing is held in is not shown. I'd be it's a snap ring.

Personally, I'd just replace the bearing with a good quality Yamaha p/n
93306-00444-00 bearing.
 
My 2011 I can see the snap ring on the 2006 there is metal bushings on both sides of the wheel I think the bearing. Is not replaceable? The wheel and bearing together?

Pull out the snap ring and tap the old bearing out. When you put the new one in it's important that you're pressing/tapping on both the inner and outer races together.

Sounds like on your 2006 you'd have to replace the entire assy. BUT..I would look for a different brand of wheel assy that has replaceable bearings. They are out there and I'm guessing others will chime in here with suggestions. Outer wheel diameter and shaft diameter are the key items here.

If there is no snap ring then bearings are molded into wheel and not replaceable. I offer replacement wheels that have replaceable bearings
 
2011 venture.....all my bearings are remove able.......I repack every year......replaced every bearing around 9500kms(except chain case).....couple were rough....but most were good.......got my bearings at a reputable bearing supplier.....they have them with grease for cold weather. Did it for peace of mind. I learned many years ago that a $5 bearing failure can cause a lot of grief......a drive or jack shaft bearing can and almost always will take hundreds of dollars of parts with it. Some of my co-workers think I'm nuts for during this....but late winter when snowmobiling is great.....two lost driveshaft bearings.....both lost speedometer sensor.....shaft moved......broke lots of internal chain case stuff, plus the case....was pretty expensive. I put my bearing numbers in a spreadsheet for future reference.......we repack them every year before summer storage. This spring I bought an additional rear wheel.....cut the spacer and added a fourth rear wheel......instructions are on this site. The jack shaft bearing can be replaced without dismantling chain case. Need a good puller......bearing seemed fine...did it anyways.....again, peace of mind.

My original slides went at around 800km......most wear happened on a shitty day......dealer just had new (then) Vespa slides....gave me a great deal..... Odometer is close to 12000km now....slides still look good. Something to consider.

My cousin has an older re venture like mine.....not sure of year....think it's a 2008.......his bearings are moulded into wheels.....no snap rings. As previous posters said....newer replacement wheels have replaceable bearings. He doesn't do much maintenance, so not sure if he can remove seals sensibly on his to repack.
 
Slides looked good I may drill a small hole through the seal and inject a little grease with needle fitting wheels look good but I can tell there isn't much grease in the bearings
 
wheels are cheap trips are priceless I would change them out. fwiw.
