I was up in munising a few weeks ago with my new 2011 xtx it only had 200 miles on it. The issue is it was about 30 degrees out and we had been riding for a while and all of the sudden it felt like the parking brake was stuck on. Trails were moguled out real bad. So i stopped and shut it off for a few minutes to let things cool down (no temp light on) after i restarted and took off it was fine. Anyone have this happen and know how to fix it? I rode it the next day and did not notice it again. The first ride i took it out on if i slammed on the brakes the belt would sqeel when i took off. Any ideas?

The belt squeal is most likely the belt being caught to deep in the secondary from the braking. So when you take off again its like taking off in third gear instead of first and your belt squeals a bit. Actually both symptoms you describe could be the belt being to low in the secondary so when you try to take off it would seem like your parking brake was on again because its like taking off in a high gear with your vehicle. At least it something to check for.

how do i get this not to happen? my 07 apex i put 8k on and didn't have this problem
Slow down with little or no brake application so the secondary can backshift (close up). This lets the belt ride high on the secondary and its in the proper position to take off like in first gear on your vehicle. For your riding style you may want to add to more twist on your secondary spring.

Ah, I really think that you are feeling the Hi-fax cooking. The XTX needs near perfect conditions not to drag. I bet if you look at the hi-fax, they are already 1/2 cooked. Probably need to think about larger/lower wheels and maybe some scratchers. When my brothers xtx was dragging/burning, I could actually beat him on top end with mine. Also he could only tach at about 10,300.... about 500 rpm lower than he normally gets. He burned up a set of slides in 100 miles on that trip.

i was originally thinking that also i have 360 miles on the sled and the slides look like new still hardly any wear yet

My XTX feels the same way sometimes and its right from the start, like the parking break is on. Not sure whats going on, I checked the brake and its not stuck or frozen, track tension is within specs or slightly loose. I currently have 2 - 07 RTXs and never had this problem.

I had it one weekend and it was the slides melting to the track. I even have the larger wheels. When I picked the back of the sled up it loosened but then came right back. Maybe it was something else.

It is very noticable when the sliders stick. Its definetly your problem. Had it happen to me. Its just the time of the season for sliders to burn right off if you dont get enough lube on them. XTX likes the extra snow to run smooth.
