Hey all, im new to the board. I just recently bought an 03 RX-1 Mountain. It had some suspension damage and i am still in the process of fixing it. So I have yet to ride it. I was just wondering what this machine is like? Power? How does it handle? Gas Milage, how bad is the weight because im quite aware that shes a heavy machine. Also for anyone that has an aftermarket exaust or silencers on it, Whats the sound like?
Thanx

Look into some aftermarket suspension parts and loose a few pounds.
White knuckle exhaust sounds great . Take your time and learn to ride the RX1 and you will get used to the weight, don't just ride it a couple of times and form an opinion to soon.

Hawks-At-Angles-12..........For me, the weight is not an issue. What is an issue, however, is the engine braking in deep powder. If you let off on the throttle, the nose will dive faster than a nuclear submarine. I think many riders mistake the engine breaking for a heave front end. The first time I let go of the throttle, I flew 25 feet over the handlebars and took out the windshield and half the instrument pod. EAS UP ON THE THROTTLE - DO NOT LET GO OF THE THROTTLE - OF YOU DO, YOU'll FLY OVER THE HANDLE BARS LIKE A ROCKET. Also, you'll get a lot of $hit from your riding buddies for driving a pig four stroker. Just let them talk. Once you learn how to handle the sled, you'll be at the top looking down on them.
Before you go riding with your buddies, practice riding by yourself in a flat meadow. Once you’ve mastered that, head for the steep and deep with your buddies and shred ‘um up!!!!

Welcolme to the best damn web site Hawk-At-Angles-12. The RX1 Mountain is THE best trail sled on the trails. The power is great!!! But like everyone has said look out for that engine braking. Gauranteed to get you stuck in deep snow. Your throttle is your friend with this sled. When making any jumps or going thru snow banks or up a hill, throttle thru it, don't get 1/2 way thru and let off or you will go thru the windsheild. My sled rides great and gets about 15 mpg depending on how I ride. Plus I haven't added oil yet this year in 2450 miles.

Hey 1 more thing, make SURE you get with your dealer and get a rear heat exchanger. The cost is about $85.00 and takes around 1.5 hours to install, if you take your time. Mine always heated up on the trails on the way to boondock or to the slopes.
