Quick drag n fly question

I set my secondary to 2inside and 3outside and it's very aggresive out of the hole.Pulls the skis right up and holds them up along way....try your adjusting your secondary

I started with the DNF this year per Turk's setup with 5 in the shoulder and 1 in the center. I felt the bottom torque was less, but since I had made a bunch of other changes including a longer track, I wasn't comparing apples to apples. But, now after reading someone else has seen the same thing; I plan to go back to the stock weights and try it. And yes, the DNF weights create even more noise than the stock weights.

One thing you guys need to remember with the DNF weights, is the belt will be grabbed harder at the bottom end. This will make the sled rpms stay down some when you take off because there is less slippage. This will also make it feel like the sled is slower because you aren't hearing the motor race.

I have to say after a few days changing set ups I am not impressed with this kit. The midrange has improved greatly but bottom end has been lost. Where I could gas it before on a rise in the trail and wheelie it I am having trouble doing that now. I guess I need more backshift?? I would give up a bit of top end to have explosive bottom end and midrange, where do I need to adjust to get this?

I currently have 5 in the heel and 2 in the centre.

Well with this kit i find the bottom end is wicked, pretty much stand this sled upright out of the hole and hold the skis till i let off.

What track are you running?
I'm running a 1.5" intense track...

I have the stock 1.25 ripsaw. I could do this with stock clutching, no doubt my mid range has improved but the bottom end has suffered. I wonder if I should dial up some more transfer?(set close to max now) I plan to go to a 1.5 track next year, maybe this will help me get the traction back in the bottom end, I feel like I'm spinning now where I wasn't before.

Maybe I should have went with the Ulmer kit?

Personally a new track is goin on my sled before i start to mess with the clutch, i hate the rip saw all it does is spin so far so i cant even get a real taste of what the sled can really do as it just has a shitty hook up most of the time. Then the clutch kit will be chosen!

Most are reporting more bottom end and midrange with the DnF's, so it's odd that you are reporting an improvement on the other end and less on bottom. Perhaps you are getting more power to the track now, and due to the poor traction of the ripsaw, maybe that extra power is causing more track spin ? Suspension adjustments play a HUGE factor in getting that power fully harnessed. If your suspension is too stiff in the rear, that will lead to excessive track spin also. I believe you want more preload on the front rear shock, and softer settings in the rear for maximum performance and transfer. Did you pm Turk and see what he thinks ? Don't give up on the DnF's just yet, they do work ;)!

How can you not like the Ripsaw track? I think it rocks. I only have 96 pics down the center and it tears your arms off out of the hole...

I think you are right about more power to the track causing me to spin. I have my rear suspension set up for a lot of transfer, springs are soft, I may add a little more transfer and see what happens. In the meantime I did send Turk a PM and he suggested I remove 1 or 2 washers from the heel, I did and now the bottom end is back!! I may put them back and play with my transfer a bit just to see.

Track is a part of the bottom end,the 1.25" ripsaw is not an aggresive track like the 1.5".Glad to hear you got the bottom end back..

radianguy: what set up did you end up with to get the low end back? I threw my stock weights back in but haven't tested it yet. Then I want to try the DNF's again. BTW I run 1 136" Cobra track so lack of hookup is not an issue for me.

Thanks

Tested the stock weights - WOW I forgot what a good holeshot felt like. But, nothing in the mid range now. Now to try the DNF's again.....

I am running 3 washers in the shoulder and 2 in the center.

I am going to try the 5 and 2 again but wind the secondary spring like these guys have mentioned, 2 outside 3 inside.
